A Quick 10 Minute Recharge for Any Babe!
This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Olay. The opinions and text are all mine.
We are home together as a family of 4 and still can’t believe it! Before we had sweet Lettie, I knew I wanted to have a 10 minute recharge routine for myself every morning and night to make sure I am still taking care of myself – even just a tiny bit. I feel like when you have a newborn, whether your first or your 7th, you quickly forget about yourself and are fully engulfed in taking care of a sweet new life. I knew I needed something to give me a breath for myself, to make sure I am being taken care of, but also something that could be done quickly so I could get back to my TWO little ones.
I started this routine a few weeks before Lettie was born and so it would be a habit when she came. Whether you just had a new little one, work full time, are a stay-at-home mom or go to school, you deserve to take care of yourself for 10 minutes both morning and night. This routine has been game changing not only for my skin but for my mental health too. It is something I do first thing in the morning (now after I feed Lettie) and right before I go to sleep every night. If I am having a really rough day, I sometimes do it in the middle of the day – just to have a breath of air and give myself a bit of alone time.
Getting ready and taking care of my skin is something I love and it really rejuvenates me. I needed some “me” time while I was pregnant since I was unable to do a lot of things I used to do. I knew I wanted this routine to be in the bathroom taking care of my skin and also working on my mental health.
I start off my routine by washing my face and taking deep breaths as silly as that sounds. It is something that makes me feel so good. The fact that I dedicate time to take care of my skin and to take some “scheduled” deep breaths is amazing. I started using Olay Cleansing Infusion Facial Cleanser with Deep Sea Kelp which is perfect for all skin types. This is a new soy-based cleanser that seriously feels like butter on my face. It is amazing because it draws out my impurities while drawing in hydration, which also ties into the next part of my routine. I love that this product contains deep sea kelp and aloe extract, which has been a game changer for my skin’s hydration. I can feel and visibly see a difference in the hydration of my skin. While washing my face, I love to really just soak it in, feel the cleanser on my face, and turn my mind off for a minute. It might sound crazy, but try it. Washing your face will quickly become one of your favorite activities.
After I wash my face, I pat dry with a towel and then start on the second part of my routine. This felt super awkward at first, but the more I do it daily, it has been life changing for my mental health. I look in the mirror and turn off any thoughts that make me feel bad about myself. I then tell myself in a strong voice looking in the mirror 3-5 things – depending on how much time I have – I want to possess or am struggling with. I tell myself affirmations looking into my own eyes. Phrases like “I am a good mom.” “I am patient with my kids.” “I see the good in all things.” “I am full of love for others.” These things I may not believe as I say them out loud, but telling myself I possess these traits has helped me to truly believe in myself and believe I can do them in my daily life.
After these two things I go back to everyday life. Some days it takes me about 10 minutes to do, other days they take a little less time. I make sure to do this routine every single morning and night no matter what. When I skip this routine, I notice a difference in not only the look and feel of my skin but also my mental health.
I challenge you to run and snag some Olay Cleansing Infusion Facial Cleanser with Deep Sea Kelp – look for the gold facial cleanser on the shelf! And don’t forget to take the time to tell yourself affirmations in the mirror after you take care of your skin. I would love to hear how it works for you and if it is something you have tried before!
