4TH OF JULY TRADITIONS.
First off, can we start that tomorrow is my birthday!? Ya okay, now that we have talked about the important things I wanted to share a little bit into our traditions with the 4th of July that we have been doing for the past 25 years. Ya, 25 years! Crazy right!?
Every year for the past 25 years my sweet grandpa takes our entire family to Jackson Hole, WY for the cutest little 4th of July getaway. What makes it so fun and out of the ordinary is that we don’t river raft, we don’t hike, we don’t do any of the things that people go up to Jackson Hole for… Funny right? We stay in the cutest little one bedroom cabins (each family has their own little cabin). My cute grandpa makes the yummiest breakfasts on the porch of his cabin where we all gather around in our p.j.’s every morning while we are there. My family (my mom, me, and King – Zach and my dad stay home with Matt and hang out with him) drives up the third of July so we have 2 mornings for yummy breakfasts (we drive home the fifth). On the 4th after breakfast we head over for the big parade. It is always so crazy to us how quickly 4th of July’s in Jackson Hole have grown so much. The parades use to be quiet, but now they are super packed! We love watching the parade and I can’t wait for King to watch it and see all the “ssss” (horses).
After the parade we take bikes home (we ride bikes almost everywhere in Jackson) and go shopping through the little shops. My sweet grandma buys everyone a little something to take home and remember the trip, and we find some crazy good deals sometimes like Frye boots (true story). Next, we eat lunch at the yummiest pizza place and then all head back to the cabins (or those who want to, like King) for naps or quiet time. We head to dinner after naps at Merry Piglets and it is always delicious! My grandpa and I share the nachos every year without fail.
After dinner, we head to the Jackson Hole Playhouse (we have every single year except one year for 25 years) and watch the play. The older we get it isn’t as amazing or good as we remember it to be haha, but we still go, I mean it’s tradition right!? We watch the play and it always ends perfectly with when fireworks are about to start. As we are getting close to the cabins and we sit and watch the fireworks. It is so fun to watch the little kids get to excited. We bring glow sticks, pop its, and sparklers and they have the time of their lives.
After fireworks we all head to bed and then the next morning eat a yummy breakfast and are on the road back home. It is such a fun trip and the perfect little getaway and fun tradition to get our family together for the holiday. Do you have any fun traditions in your family for the holiday? I hope you all have the happiest 4th of July spent with your family and loved ones. Oh and of course a lot of Diet Coke! XX
