Does anyone else put off packing for as long as possible? I mean, it is bad enough when I am going on a little vacation on my own, but when the entire family is involved I seem to put it off even more than ever. It just seems so daunting to me to have to pack the things that I think I will need while gone only to get there and then have something that I really need still at home sitting in my bathroom or cupboard. After traveling so much last year I have found some really helpful things that have helped me to make packing a little bit easier, less time consuming, and have even given packing its own system, which I love.
– Write out a list a couple days before you go as you go throughout your day. This helps me to realize things that I use daily that I may not remember to pack or things that I am out of and need to grab in travel sizes. I carry around a piece of paper with me all day (you could use your phone) and write down everything I do from taking my morning vitamins and probiotic to brushing my teeth when I get up in the morning down to my contact case and glasses when I go to sleep at night.
– I used to hate this part because it creates little “messes” around my house, but start setting things out in little piles the day before you are going to pack. When I take my morning probiotic from Genestra I set out my HMF Travel in a stack of other things so I don’t forget it. I love that they have travel probiotics that don’t have to be refrigerated or anything because it is shelf stable so it makes it super easy to travel with. Also, side note if you are looking for a good probiotic I highly recommend Genestra HMF probiotics (I had it approved by my OB when I was first pregnant so if you are pregnant or breastfeeding consult your doctor). I love that it is designed to meet any individuals unique health needs which is amazing and plus I swear when a brand has been around for 20 plus years it is tried and true in my eyes and that is just what Genestra is! Try traveling with it too because when you travel it can really take a toll on your gut health and taking my probiotic even when I am traveling has made a world of difference for me. When I brush my teeth I set out my travel toothbrush so I don’t have to do it later and don’t forget. Setting things out as you pair them with things that you do every day helps to prevent you from forgetting something (like my probiotics I can’t live without) and also helps to prevent you from over packing, which is also something I used to do all the time.
– Wear your bulky items to travel in. If you are flying this really applies. Wearing your heavy shoes, coat, etc. through the airport and then storing them under your seat or in the overhead bin gives you more space in your suitcase and makes it less heavy, which is also a huge win!
– When you are ready to pack your outfits or your littles’, set them out on the bed in outfits. This helps you to know what you have, what can be worn with different things, etc. I try to only pack minimal shoes so laying out all my outfits ahead of time and seeing what shoes are going to match all of them has really helped.
– Pack the day before and have your suitcase ready to go the next morning so you can put your makeup on and toiletries in your bag as soon as you get ready and you’re out the door! It will make your travel day so much less stressful I promise!
