5 Tips to Spring Cleaning with Your Littles
This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Bounty. The opinions and text are all mine.
Spring cleaning is in full force at our house, and more than spring cleaning, we are also cleaning for baby sister to come in just under two weeks! I swear it is like spring cleaning on steroids over here with nesting in full force.
King is all about helping to clean and is really good if I give him specific instructions. From there, I kind of let him do his own thing (to a point). I have quickly learned that it is better to have him help and loosen up my reins a little bit vs not letting him help at all.
I get a lot of Instagram story requests for tips on how to include your busy toddler into “Mommy day-to-day activities” and so I am excited to share with you my 5 tips for Spring Cleaning with Your Littles today!
1 – Sit down before you start to clean (let’s be honest, even before they know you are going to have them help you clean) and figure out what things you are going to have them do. I have found King does so much better when I explain thing to him like “mommy is going to clean the inside of the sink and I really need you to wipe down the outside” so he knows what I am going to do and then he gets to know what his job will be. This also helps prevent a lot of temper tantrums! Make a list of things that they are going to help with and then decide if you are going to bust it out in one day, over a week, or even a month! 2 – Grab natural products for the things that they get to help you with. I am all about letting King spray, but I am careful about what I give him to spray when we clean. When he is helping we use water with essential oils in it, and I save the other products for when he isn’t helping. This is so I don’t have to worry about it getting on his skin, him accidentally drinking it, or something else! 3 – Buy the right products. We love using NEW Bounty Quick-Size Paper Towels because I can give him one small paper towel at a time, while I use 2-3 based on the job that I am doing. They hold up through his crazy wiping, and if he throws them away or needs a new one, I can hand him another sheet. We honestly love using these in our everyday life too. I keep a roll in my car because if he is eating or something in the back and spills, I can give him sheets based on how big the mess is. They are my number one product that saves my life as a mama!
Another thing that makes this mama happy is that they are available for a sweet deal right now on Amazon. Apply the $2 Amazon coupon, head to check-out and apply the promo code 5QUICKBOUNTY for a total of $7 off. With this you’ll get 16 Family Rolls, which is perfect to stock-up for spring cleaning and summer adventures! ** Paper towels will be back in stock in 24 hours **
4 – Learn to let go. This one is often times the hardest for me, but I am getting better every day. A little extra spray isn’t going to end the world and neither is letting him use an extra paper towel or two. 5 – Make it fun! We turn on music and dance around the house while we do our “jobs” every morning – and this is my favorite part! When we are done, we have a treat together and I thank him for helping me. Letting him know that I really appreciate him helping is something so important to me. I want him to know that when you help people, it is something good to do, and so I do my best to thank him.
I hope this helps you with ideas on how to involve your littles in your spring cleaning. One day they are going to grow up and not be as willing to help, so I am taking it all in now. It’s only so much longer that he’ll think when you get to “spray” it is the best thing in the world ☺
