5 Tips & Tricks to Winter Wellness Starting in Your Home
Thanks to Aprilaire for sponsoring today’s content. All opinions, thoughts, and product selections are my own.
Winter is in full force in Utah and we have been hit with a few bugs this year which is always so hard. I swear that I try my very best to keep them away but they always seem to find us. I have learned a few tips and tricks this year though to helping get rid of sickness a little bit quicker and to help keep it away that have been game changing for our little family so I thought I could share them here with you so hopefully they can help your home a little bit too.
|| SANITIZE WHENEVER YOU GET HOME ||
I’m not the best at this one and work to be better at it every single day but putting some hand sanitizer on quickly when you walk through the door helps keep whatever germs you were in contact with when you are out and about stay away. It is crazy how often our hands touch different things then our food, face, clothes, kids, etc. Hand washing and sanitizing is something so simple that I feel often times gets overlooked with germs because of how simple it is. King knows as soon as he gets in the car from preschool that we put sanitizer on in the car. Then those cute little preschool hands that go to touch Lettie in her carseat are at least sanitized.
|| HAVE A HUMIDIFIER IN YOUR HOME ||
This is something that has been game changing to my little family. We use to have humidifiers in every room in our house and we would have to fill them multiple times a day to keep them running. While those are good and can help we recently had one installed into our HVAC system and it has been amazing. We live in Utah where the weather is really dry and so having the humidity in the air in our home has helped immensely to help with our dry skin and to help with keeping illness away. Crazy fact, did you know that flu transmission can be increased by 30% in homes that aren’t at proper humidity? Crazy right. Having your home have the right humidity makes such a difference in decreasing illness in our home.
|| TAKE VITAMINS DAILY ||
I know that I have posted in my stories before about all the vitamins that I take every night, but I also give vitamins to my kids every day too. Making sure that your body has the right vitamins and minerals that it needs to stay healthy is especially important in the winter time. I also give King an added immunity vitamin in the winter months too.
|| USE AIR PURIFIERS ||
Having the air in your home purified makes a really big difference. I was a skeptic about it until I actually had one in my home and noticed the difference. Zach and I always joke because any time I cook bacon, use hairspray, or a couple other things the purifiers always turn on. He says that’s how you know that they truly make a difference! We have one in our bedroom because I suffer from really bad seasonal allergies and we have one in our living area where our kids play the most and our family spends the most time.
|| DON’T OVER DO IT ||
As silly as it sounds don’t over do it when you feel an illness coming on or you are sick. When you do too much it takes the energy that your body would use to heal and puts it toward whatever else you are doing leaving you with the illness for longer. Give yourself some time to rest, drink plenty of water, and let your body do it’s thing and you will get better a lot quicker!
Just a little bit about our humidifier and our air purifiers, we have all of our stuff from a company called Aprilaire. They have been amazing and the products have truly changed our home. We control the humidity level from a thermostat in our living area (we just replaced our old one) and can control everything from an app on our phone. I love knowing that when my littles or Zach or I are sick that we can turn the humidity level up, we can turn it down in the spring time and it self regulates the humidity level in our home turning on when needed per the settings we set. They had an amazing local HVAC company come out and install the humidifier and we just plugged the air purifiers in ourselves. If you have been looking into adding a humidifier or air purifiers into your home I highly recommend Aprilaire and you can use promo code DANIMARIE for 15% off your order. I also would be more than happy to answer any questions that you have about them!

Sanitizing is one of the biggest things we do, and we also have the humidifier that we use daily. These are great tips for the winter months.
