5 Ways To Make Time For Me
Having a toddler is hard. Being in College is hard. Being a mom is hard. Working full time is hard. No matter what you are doing, life is hard. I think that if it were easy we probably wouldn’t appreciate it as much. We have been potty training King since we found out if he is potty trained they will let him go to preschool a year early where he turns 3 by the end of the year. It is completely wearing me out. While I know I am doing what is best for him, it doesn’t make me any less tired. I have called Zach almost every day this week telling him that when he gets home from work that I need a break and make time for me. I need a few minutes to recharge, take some deep breaths, and just be alone. I am so excited to share with you my favorite ways to make time for me.
1 – Go lay in your bed or on your favorite comfy chair and read a magazine with a big Diet Coke. I am completely obsessed with PEOPLE® Magazine. I love that I can snag it while I am at Target checking out and read it over and over always finding something new until the next issue comes out. I catch up on all my guilty pleasures and have some time reading and thinking about things that aren’t stressful, overwhelming, or “mom” related for a minute. 2 – I love to do a face mask all while reading PEOPLE® Magazine & drinking my Diet Coke. There is just something for me that taking care of myself a little extra does. It makes me feel like I am a priority to myself and that I am important to take care of.
3 – Take a bath! It can be quick, long, anything. I read my PEOPLE® Magazine while in the tub or watch a show on TV. Either way, whatever you do in the bath, breathe, recharge, and just relax.
4 – Listen to self help podcasts! This is a new favorite of mine. I love that when I listen to self help podcasts that it pushes me to be better. I work so much harder on being conscious of what I am saying and doing. I generally listen to them when I am driving alone, but when I am having a really rough day I will listen to one with King in the car. Even if I just hear a little bit from it, it helps so much!
5 – Meditate! I know some people think this is crazy, but when I am super overwhelmed I love to go in my bedroom, turn on my diffuser with some essential oils, and meditate for 10 minutes. It completely clears my mind and helps me to refocus on what really matters to me.
I hope that these things help you to make time for me and take care of yourself. You are important. You deserve to be taken care of. If you don’t take care of yourself you can’t expect to take care of everyone else 100%.
