5 Ways I Try To Simplify My To-Do List
I think that no matter what we do we all have really big to-do lists. Things that have to be done, things that we want to do, and everything in between. Whether you go to school, work, are a stay at home mama, or anything else having things to do never really goes away. My life is pretty crazy between running an online full time business, working part time as a nurse, being a mama, and a wife, I have really had to learn how to simplify my to-do list and make things go a little bit smoother.
1 – This one doesn’t really simplify things, but it is to write things down. Everything from laundry, playing with your littles, making lunch, etc. Writing it down gets it out of my brain, on to paper, and helps me to be focused on what I am checking off rather than thinking of everything else that I need to be doing. There is also something so rewarding about checking things off of my list even if they are small.
2 – Prioritize your list. This helps you to know what has to be done today. Whether you color code, write numbers, or list them in order, putting things in order of what needs to be done will help you be more productive and get more done.
3 – Ask for help or hire some things out. I ask Zach for help with my list all the time. It takes a few things off of my list and helps me to get the things that have to be done that day done. He is always willing to help and likes me to tell him exactly what I need help with rather than hinting to him. I also have hired a lot of things out and that is okay too! It helps me to do more of the things that I want to do and get rid of the things that aren’t my favorite.
4 – Do things when you have a second. I always have to wash my car on my to-do list and it is something that always gets pushed to the bottom even though I love the feeling of having it clean. I found amazing Armor All 3 step wipes at Walmart and love that if I have a second waiting for Zach at his work, get to the park and King is asleep, etc. that I can grab the wipes and clean my car really quick. They have Ultra Shine Wash Wipes, Ultra Shine Wax Wipes, & Ultra Shine Tire & Trim Shine Sponges. It truly cleans my car fully from washing it, waxing it, and even down to the tires.
Do things when you have a second if you can. It seriously will make your to-do list go so much quicker! I will mark off texting people back or answering emails when I am getting gas, in line at the drive up, etc.
5 – Say no to things! This one is the hardest for me. I really struggle with telling people no, but if it isn’t in my best interest then it is something I need to do. It helps me to stay focused on what I need to. I still say yes to a ton, but saying no when someone asks me to do something rather than resenting them the entire time I do something has been game changing to me. It helps me to eliminate things on my to-do list and keeps my heart and mind happy.
You can find the Armor All 3 Step Wipes at your local Walmart in the automotive department. Then you can feel like a total mama boss when your car is clean and you were just hanging out waiting for your toddler to wake up at the grocery store. Take advantage of the $2.00 off any one (1) of the Armor All Ultra Shine Wipes from Walmart, while supplies last!
