Happy Sunday! Our weekends are spent at the park and we are loving it. Oddly enough King absolutely loves the grass and will figure out how to roll or scoot to get over to it any time he can. Our weekend looks are generally pretty casual unless we have somewhere specific to be. I love these jogger pants from Fevrie. I love that they are a more casual look to jeans, but still have the feel and look of denim. They are seriously on repeat over here this summer!
I wanted to share with you a little bit about my nursing adventures with King. Nursing my sweet baby is always something that I have wanted to do. I wanted to be able to create that bond with him in a way that no one else could. However, I wasn’t able to solely nurse him. The day my milk came in, I nursed King for 20 minutes on each side and I still felt so full and engorged. I decided to pump off the excess milk. I no joke pumped off 4 oz on each side the first time I pumped… This went on for a couple days until I sadly got mastitis. I started pumping solely then to make sure i was clearing myself completely out. I would pump off around 18 oz each pump. After getting mastitis for a 3rd time I contacted my doctor. My body doesn’t regulate my milk supply on its own. This is why I solely pump. After 6 bouts with mastitis, pumping has allowed me to have control of when I “nurse” and release the milk I am producing. With not being able to regulate my supply, let’s just say I get a little heavy up top. I have struggled and struggled with finding a bra that will support me and all of my milk. I have never been one to be “blessed” up top so I have never had this problem before with a bra. I searched and searched for a bra that would be easy to pump in, but also give me support. I finally found the best thing that has ever happened to me. It is the BOOB nursing fast food bra. It fits me more like a sports bra than regular bra which I love because it gives me more support. It however allows me to be able to easily pump when I need to. Seriously people, this thing is heaven sent to me. If you haven’t heard of them you are missing out. Nursing King has been the best thing that has ever happened to me, and even with having mastitis a bunch of times I would do it all over again.
I often get asked what I do with all my extra milk where i have so much, I actually donate it all to a little girl who lives near me who’s mom passed away giving birth. It is such a reward to me to know that I can help give a little bit of light to that family and help them in such a simple way. If you have any questions about my nursing experiences or pumping please feel free to email me. I would love to be able to possibly help you on this adventure! Here’s to 6 more months of pumping strong and making it to my goal of pumping for a year!
