Adding Photos to Make Our House a Home
We have been in our house for a year and a half now and I can’t believe that it has been that long. We finally have settled in and now I feel like I can add things & decorate it to make it be a home for our little family. I feel like it took me a minute to be able to get settled in our home and to truly know what I wanted and where I wanted it. I have spent a lot of time deciding what I want in our home, how I want the style of our home, and searching for things that I love for my home. I feel like we are finally getting somewhere with how I want it to look and feel when you come into our home and the place that we will make family memories.
I knew I wanted to have photos of our family in our home, and photos that aren’t necessarily staged photographer pictures. I wanted these to be iPhone pictures that were some of our favorite little moments as a family. A big goal of mine is to take photos off of my phone and have them be places that we can look at them and enjoy them. I want my littles to be able to see pictures of themselves in our home, remember moments that we had together, and be able to tell people about those moments when they come over.
I knew that I wanted to have the pictures be the focus of the frames but I also wanted something classic, beautiful, and that won’t go away. I wanted a gallery wall that was full of simple moments of my little family that was pretty to look at but also really showcased our moments. We were able to get this beautiful gallery wall with our photos framed from Framebridge. We have purchased frames from them before for Lettie’s nursery & for our Christ picture in our living room and have always been so pleased with their products. When I decided that a gallery wall was what I wanted to do for this place in my home I instantly knew who I wanted to put it together for us and I have been absolutely smitten with how it came together. I decided on the Half Wall Grid Gallery Wall and uploaded our photos to their site, placed them in the frames and then submitted my order. It was crazy simple.
When they came in the mail they came with a piece of brown paper that had all the frames drawn on it so all Zach had to do was put the paper up on the wall where we wanted it, nail the nails on the X’s and then take the paper down and hang the frames. It took all the guess work out of a gallery wall and made it so simple to get it to look perfectly.
Making our house a home is something that is so important to me, not just because of the way it looks but more so for the way it feels for our family and the memories that we create in our home. Of course I love a beautiful look to a home, but it truly is the feelings inside of different rooms and the memories that we create there that make the biggest difference to me. We are still working on a lot of different rooms in our house to make them feel like a home, but it will come with time, thought, and love and that is okay!
I would love to hear what you have done to your house to make it more like a home. What feelings do you have when you are in your home? Do your rooms have different feelings to them? I am really striving to give our home the feeling of peace, love, memories, and happiness while being a clean, minimalistic, modern, bohemian feel to it.
