Basic Babe

More times than not I like to keep my looks super basic. We are down in St. George this weekend for a family reunion with Zach’s family. While I was packing I was thinking about what I generally wear and trying to switch it up a little bit because I get stuck in these “basic” ruts. A dress and sneakers, jeans and a basic tee, etc. As I sat and thought about it I didn’t care, I am happy to be the basic girl, I love keeping pieces in my closet that won’t go out of style, that will always be around, yes it is fun to mix it up sometimes, but keeping mostly basic pieces is the way to go if you ask me.

This peplum top is perfect because it is basic, prints and patterns are going to go out of style and not be around as much as something that is solid and/or neutral. When buying pieces, especially pieces that I may be splurging on I really take a minute to think about if it is a piece that will go out of style fast, is it a bright or bold color, neon, print, etc.? This helps me to know if putting my money toward it is going to be worth it. I like to think about how many times I am going to wear a particular item and how much each “wear” is going to cost me. Is it really worth splurging on?
