Couples Shoots – What to Wear
A couple months ago Zach and I went out to the salt flats with Kelsie and did a couples shoot. I am generally not one to do something like this, but she was doing a promotion, is my best friend, and I wanted to support her. However, after doing it, I would highly recommend it to everyone. We headed out just the two of us with Kelsie and our night started with the zipper on my dress breaking, my brand new dress… If you look at the picture below you will see a hold in it, it isn’t a key hole that is supposed to be there ha, it is a rip and the rest of my dress is being held together with bobby pins lol. Even with that it was seriously the best experience and I can’t wait to hang these pictures in our bedroom in our new home. (Make sure to watch the video at the bottom too!)
Ever since I posted a photo of Zach and I from this shoot I have received so many messages asking me what people should wear to a couples shoot. I never thought that would be a questions that I received ha, but here we go!!
First off I would say dress up! Wear something you would wear if you were going on a fancy date night. This is the perfect excuse to wear something special, buy something new, and dress up for your man.
Secondly, wear something that you feel comfortable in. I bought this dress, tried it on ahead of time and loved how it fit. I felt so comfortable and confident in it which is something so big for me especially when you are taking photos. If you don’t feel comfortable in what you are wearing it will show on your face and in your body language.
Third, make your husband or significant other dress up. Have him wear something that you love him in, that he feels confident in, and that compliments what you are wearing. Try not to be matchy matchy, just have him wear neutral colors.
I think the biggest thing is to have fun, most of our pictures are us laughing which is our relationship. Well that or Zach leaping ha (look close above, I mean, his toe is even pointed…). Be yourself and as hard as it is (trust me it is really hard) pretend that there isn’t a photographer there. Play, laugh, giggle, and just let go. I promise you that you will get the best and happiest photos if you do that. Plus, Kelsie snagged this video for us that made my heart just burst. I am in a different dress because you know, the dress ripping ha.
