Creating Simplicity
With the new year…okay let’s be honest since the world shut down last March I have been in a simplicity mindset. I have realized how much “things” can be in the way, add chaos, and so much more. I have really been taking time to be mindful and intentional with the things I purchase, the spaces in my home, the thoughts that I think and so much more. When the world stopped spinning for a while we spent more time in our home than we had ever before and it really had me take inventory of the things, people, feelings, etc. that are in this place I get to call home. I’ve realized more than ever before that I get to choose the feelings, people, things, thoughts that occur in the walls of my own home if nowhere else and that hit me hard. What do I want a room to say when I walk into it? How do I want it to feel? What pieces/things do I want to allow into my home?
I realized a few things that I absolutely love and that I knew I wanted to keep around and even “upgrade” for myself. I went through my day to see the things and places where I spent the most time & what helped create the feelings I want in my home. Here are a few things/places that stood out to me. I know that I love to write in the mornings, have personal study, journal etc. so I went through all my books, notebooks, etc. and kept only the things that I knew I would use…not just hope to use. I realized how much time my family spends in my bathroom whether it is bathing my kids, getting ready, showering, myself taking a nightly bath and so much more. My bathroom as silly as it sounds is a place that my entire little family comes when we are feeling sad, tired, lonely, excited, renewed, or even reenergized.
I knew I wanted pieces and things in this space that would help to create a calm and inviting environment with simplicity. I ordered us some new towels, myself a robe, added some dried florals next to the tub, a diffuser, and donated a lot of things. I wanted to have fewer things and things that held more meaning, brought feelings, and simplicity. When searching for the perfect thing I actually reached out to you guys and so many of you recommended Brooklinen that it is where I ended up getting all of our towels and my robe and I couldn’t be happier with that choice. When I wrap my babies up in these towels we all feel the peace, comfort, coziness and simplicity of our family. They are something that wraps around us on our hardest days and can bring so much love & peace. I hold and snuggle my littles all wrapped up cozy in a towel. I wrap myself up after taking a bath on a really long day. Zach uses his every morning to prepare himself to go to work. As silly as it sounds, a towel completely changes our mood and the feel in our own home.

These are towels we will have for years and years and I can not wait to see what memories my little family can create all around a simple thing of a towel.
