Fiskars crafting tools: Champions for Kids! A MUST READ!

Do you have a little one in school? Or know of someone in school? (Don’t we all!?) Did you know that they don’t have very much money in the budget to buy fun crafting supplies?? And that art classes are being cut due to budget cuts!? How sad! I am sure kids of all ages LOVE to craft, draw, and create! I know that Matt (my darling little brother pictured below) loves to! I am so excited to talk to you about this amazing service/donation project! Champions for Kids is done through Fiskars (my personal favorite crafting company!!) Fiskars has so many amazing crafting tools! From craft scissors to dry erase boards and everything in between! They are bringing awareness to kids all over that are in school and needing supplies. What an amazing thing!
Fiskars Champions for Kids is so close to my heart because of my sweet disabled brother. It is so important especially for special needs kids to use their imagination and to learn in other ways besides the traditional teaching. By donating these supplies I have helped to give these children the opportunity to learn hands on, to craft hands on, and to use their creativity and imagination.
Art tools are SO important for children and people of all ages! What would life be if you couldn’t have an imagination or create!? Think about school, what was your favorite thing?? (If you say science you are crazy!!) ART! How fun was it to get away from math, science, and reading and have fun and create? These kids need that, they need the supplies to have the opportunity to create and to use their imagination. They need that break from the “boring” subjects (which are important, but not the most exciting).
YOU can donate so easily! Just head out to your nearest Wal-Mart and pick up some of Fiskars amazing crafting tools, art tools, crafting scissors, crayons, markers, colored pencils, really ANYTHING and take it to your nearest school or social worker! The teacher or social worker will be beyond excited that they can craft with their kids! Let that teacher or social worker know that crafting is important to YOU!
I took darling Matt to Wal-Mart to help me pick out some craft tools for his special needs class! We had a complete blast! He loved picking out certain art tools that he thought each kid would love! He loved getting crayons, colored pencils, markers, scissors, rulers, paper, all of it! Matt loved thinking of fun things he could do with all of the supplies. He thought about making cards for friends and missionaries, drawing soccer plans, and cutting out paper for math problems! He is so excited to take his supplies back to school and share them with his class!
When we brought the supplies into this sweet special needs class, you should have seen their little faces glow! They were SO excited! They started yelling out fun things they wanted to do with the paper, scissors, crayons, markers, and glue sticks! The sweet teacher Heidi had tears brought to her eyes, she said they had been needing supplies for quite some time and these were such a blessing to their class! The kids need that creative outlet and a break from the normal tedious work like worksheets and math problems. The kids decorated a wall in their room using paper, scissors, and glue to make a picture of themselves and to put their birthday on it. They had an absolute blast! It was so fun to see them working and expressing themselves creatively.

Craft project! Fiskars asked me to create a craft project with some supplies and I was SO excited! I got to chose a project from all of these and I chose this darling can project! I changed it a little bit because I didn’t have a peanut jar. I was so excited when I saw this project because I love to take little surprises to my friends, family and neighbors and this was a new fun way to package a treat!
- Find a jar 🙂 Pretty easy right?
- Measure your jar and cut paper the width you would like.
- Using a glue stick, glue the paper around the jar.
- All of my jar wasn’t covered, so I cut a small piece and glued it on to cover the entire jar. You may or may not need to do this.
- Using a Fiskars Punch, punch out polka dots.
- Glue polka dots onto the pink paper.
- Cut a circle to glue to the top of the jar lid.
- Glue circles onto the lid.
- Make a cute bow and cut ribbon using Fiskars safety scissors!
- Fill with your favorite treat and take it to a neighbor or friend. 🙂
