HAIR EXTENSION Q&A

Do you ever take clip-ins out? 
Yes, I would take them out every night to keep them from getting damaged and damaging your natural hair. 

Can you wear your hair up with them?
Yes! Depending on the kind. My hand tied wefts literally do everything, they are a little harder to hide in pigtails, but everything else I don’t even have to think about hiding them. Top knots, buns, pony tails, etc. are all super easy and hide super well!

What is the upkeep?
For my hand tied wefts I go in to get them moved up about every 4-5 weeks, most people go in anywhere from 6-8 weeks. I buy new hair about every 9 months to a year depending on the brand and such. I generally buy new hair in the fall and then let myself swim and everything with it in through the summer so I am damaging used hair and not new hair that I have recently purchased.

Best Extensions for your Money?
I have tried so many different brands of extensions, like probably 5-10 different brands of extensions. I always get asked what the best extensions for your money are and I would have to say Bohyme by far. I have had them for a few months now and they have seriously been the most affordable and highest quality for your buck. They have held up so well and have stayed softer than anything I have tried before.

What is the most natural looking extensions?
I would honestly say that any of them can be, but it all depends on your stylist. Go to someone where you have studied and learned their work and the education that they have for extensions.

What are the least damaging?
So far hand tied wefts have been the least damaging, however this is also all about your stylist, how they put them in, how careful they are with your hair, and how educated they are.

How often do you pay to get them moved up?
– I personally go and get them moved up every 4-5 weeks, most people go anywhere between 6-8 weeks. I just prefer mine to stay tighter to my scalp where I am filming hair tutorials and such. 
Tips for making them last longer?
Don’t wash them very often. I honestly wash my hair maybe once a week. It keeps my natural oils on them and keeps them healthier. I also use Moroccan oil on them at least once a day which helps to keep them soft. Use professional/salon grade hair products like shampoo and conditioner, it is game changing.

What is the worst thing about having hair extensions? 
Honestly there isn’t anything that is bad about them. Going in to get them moved up is sometimes annoying, but it is totally worth it to have my hair stay curled for days and to have big thick pony tails that make it look like I made a bigger effort than I really did ha.

Regretted them?
I have never once regretted my extensions.

Specific Extensions if you wear your hair up a lot?

I would say the hand tied wefts, they hide the easiest. I loved my tape ins, but they were a little tricky to hide sometimes. 

Do you wash clip-ins?
Yes! I haven’t worn clip-ins for years and years. I wanted something that was always in my hair and I didn’t have to take in and out every morning and night. When I did have them, I would wash them every other week to once a month depending on what I was doing with my hair.

Is it easy to wash them?
Clip-ins are a little tricky to wash just because it is hard to keep them untangled. There are tons of really good YouTube videos to watch to learn tips and tricks though. When they are anything from tape ins to hand tied wefts or beads you just wash them normal with your natural hair, it is super easy!
