How I Keep Up with My Littles without Losing Myself
As a mama often times I find myself feeling like King. Laying on the floor, tired, and just wanting a nap. When those days come I sit down once I pick myself up and reevaluate things. Most often times when I am exhausted, ready for a long hard nap, and have no motivation left it is because I haven’t been taking care of myself. Something that I am working really hard on is to make sure that I am filling up my own cup before taking care of others and filling up theirs. If my cup is empty then I won’t have anything to give to my little family or friends and then I find myself lying on the cement just like King exhausted.
I have a few things that I have either brought into my daily routine or changed the way that I look at it/do it to make it be taking care of myself. These are simple things that can be quick if I need them to or can take some time if time allows for them. They are things that help to fill my cup and make sure that I am taking care of myself too. As mamas we dedicate so much time to our littles that we deserve some time for us and to make sure that we smell good, have a shower (even if it is every couple of days), work out, get ready, or whatever your cup filler is.
|| GET READY FOR THE DAY ||
I use to wake up after King would and rush myself into getting ready. I would be frantic and wouldn’t take very much time on I use to wake up after King would and rush myself into getting ready. I would be frantic and wouldn’t take very much time on myself. Now I wake up around an hour to an hour and a half before him and allow myself time to get ready. When I get ready first thing in the morning I am so much more productive in the day. I now take my time washing my face, truly massage my moisturizer into my face, make sure I am wearing Secret Clinical Strength Deodorant so I don’t have to worry about running into someone at the store or at preschool and knowing that I smell so bad I can smell myself. It goes on super smooth and dry and as silly as it is can be a little spa moment. Isn’t it funny that just knowing that you don’t smell makes you feel like a champion some days? (At least I hope I’m not the only one) It really is as simple as making sure that I use Secret Clinical Strength Invisible Solid just once for all-day strong wetness protection. I love that I can put it on in the morning and know that I am set for all day long (no smelling and with wetness protection…I know I’m not the only one who has had big pit wetness sometime or another especially when I don’t foresee chasing King through the store and have an unexpected sweat episode) no matter if our day brings a workout in or chasing King at the park or heck, even around the kitchen. Making my get ready time a “spa” time where I think about myself, what I am good at, do affirmations, etc. has been game changing. It starts my day off on the right foot and gives me so much more success in the day.
|| TAKE TIME TO EAT A HEALTHY MEAL ||
Taking time to eat super healthy meals where I actually sit down at the counter and eat for both lunch and breakfast generally doesn’t happen…however, I do like to make sure that I make myself at least one super healthy meal and actually take the time to sit at the counter and enjoy my food. This might sound silly, but try it! I promise it will change your life and make you feel so much better.
|| LET MYSELF BE WITH NO EXPECTATIONS ||
This probably sounds silly but just letting myself scroll through Instagram, watch stories, or do whatever before I go to bed each night without thinking of all the posts I need to create, emails I need to answer, DM’s that need answered, laundry that needs done, things that need cleaned, etc. is my decompress time. I let myself just be, just sit, and let my brain scroll through things that generally don’t matter or don’t use a ton of brain power. No matter what you choose to let yourself just be with no expectations whether it be sitting in the bath, watching TV, reading a book, etc. do it for a few minutes every day even if it keeps you awake for 5 minutes longer.
While my littles do take every ounce of me almost every day, they are truly the best thing that ever happened to me. Making sure that I can be the best mama to them is my goal and putting myself as a priority even if it is just applying my Secret Clinical Strength a little bit slower in the mornings helps me to be that for them. It helps me to put my best foot forward and to make sure that I remember that yes I am their mama, but I am also a person who needs to be taken care of too. Next time you are at Target snag some Secret Clinical Strength and have your own spa moment in the mornings!
