I think that all of us have wardrobe malfunctions from time to time right? It is something that we don’t like to admit, but it is bound to happen to each of us sometime. I have found a lot of solutions to those wardrobe malfunctions that are quick, simple, and no sewing required. I am awful at sewing…like can’t even get my machine to stitch one stitch without breaking it so finding a solution that requires no sewing is a must. Well babes, are you ready for my secret on how to mend a seam?? Scotch™ Essentials that can be found at Target (they are in the closet section by the sewing machines!). I mean, don’t we all want another excuse to run to Target?? You can use the digital coupon here for $1.00 off any Scotch™ Essentials product & 5% off with the Cartwheel App!
The first one is for those dreaded deodorant white marks on your black top, dress, or whatever you are wearing that day. They frustrate me so much. They are one of my biggest pet-peeves… This Scotch™ Essentials White Mark Eraser does the trick quick and without any extra effort other than rubbing the teardrop shaped eraser on your white mark. It quickly and easily comes off like magic! I love that it doesn’t take water so I can have it in my bag always and it can be used without anything additional. Here is more Scotch Wardrobe tips too!
Next, we all have that top that we love right, but it just doesn’t stay up or on our shoulders like we want it to? The Scotch™ Essentials Wardrobe Tape Strips is fabric and skin friendly. Keep your clothes where they are meant to be. It even comes in this darling tin so it can go on the go with you wherever you are headed and can help prevent wardrobe malfunctions, because girl, nobody wants one of those.
These last two products are hands down my favorite though. Zach is always complaining that the hem is falling out of his dress pants and I don’t know how to mend a seam by sewing so I always just safety pinned them up…it looked terrible and so I was so thrilled to find the Scotch™ Essentials Adjustable Hem Tape & the Scotch™ Essentials Permanent Hem Bonding Strips. I love that I can fix his hems at home now in less than 10 minutes.
How to Mend a Seam Without Sewing Supplies:
Dress pants with the hem that has fallen out
Scotch™ Essentials Permanent Hem Bonding Strips &/or Scotch™ Essentials Adjustable Hem Tape
Measuring Tape
First, measure the hem so you get the hem back where it should be evenly. Zach had ironed his hem to stay up so it had a crease in the pants. I went through and made sure it was all even though. If you don’t have a crease in the pants, measure and mark the hem all the way around and then iron and create your hem.
Next, grab your Scotch™ Essentials Adjustable Hem Tape &/or Scotch™ Essentials Permanent Hem Bonding Strips. We use the Permanent Hem Strips with Zach’s dress pants, but I love to use the Adjustable Hem Tape with my maxi dresses and make them shorter for the summer and then let the hem down for the fall & winter.
Fold the dress pants hem so it is inside out, place Hem Strips around the hem. We used 3 strips. Make sure to rub them down good so they are completely stuck to the pants.
Peel the top of all of the hem strips, carefully roll the hem back where it should be.
Press the hem down with your fingers really focusing on pressing where the hem strip is really good and you are set! How To Mend a Seam Made Simple, right? No sewing and under 10 minutes, plus, I’m pretty sure you will win some brownie points with your husband right? You can find more fun things to use your products with at the Social Hub here!
