How to Style a Flowy Top (Without Being Frumpy)
We have chatted a lot of times about how I prefer to not buy maternity clothes and that I like to look for regular clothes that can be worn maternity. One question I get asked a lot is tips and tricks to wearing flowy tops without looking frumpy. Being 34 weeks pregnant the only pieces that I am wearing are either dresses or flowy tops because there is no taming this bump. When I wear flowy tops there are a few things that I always make sure to do so I don’t look frumpy. They are simple things that will give your body shape and pull that top all together with your look. These tips apply whether you are pregnant or not, because no one wants to look frumpy in their flowy tops!

1 – Wear your top with skinny jeans!
Pairing your top with something form fitting on the bottom will bring the shape back into your look. You don’t want to wear a flowy top with jeans that don’t properly fit or with a dress/skirt that is flowy. Wearing something fitted on the bottom pulls everything in and gives you a more slender look.
2 – Flowy is good, as long as there is shape.
There are some tops that are just bad. No matter how you wear them they are going to look frumpy. Make sure when you are picking a flowy piece that there is some type of shape to it whether it is something under the chest, the way it ruches on the side, really anything that can give it a little shape. You don’t want to be wearing a tent!
3 – Dress it up!
If you are still a little nervous, dress up the look with some wedges or heels. Wearing something with some type of heel to it elongates your legs and slenders you! Plus I swear wearing heels or wedges makes any outfit look just a little bit better.
I am all about wearing a good flowy top, making sure you wear it right and find the right top for your body type is key. I mean, who doesn’t love wearing a top that they can eat as many french fries as they want while wearing it and not worry!? That is my kind of top if you ask me!
