How to Transition Your Closet to Fall
Curious how to transition your closet from summer to fall? Keep reading and see my tips on how to transition my closet from summer to fall…
Whether we are ready or not fall is on its way to us. I can’t believe that it is already almost August. I swear summer was gone in a blink. We are thinking all things back to school at our house (which I will have a bunch of posts coming up for) and fall wardrobe which is honestly my absolute favorite season to dress for. I have started to prep my closet, pull things out of storage, and look for staple pieces to add to my closet. I’ve found if I make a list of the pieces that I want to add to my closet and then shop from that I keep in budget better and can watch for sales because I know exactly what I am looking for. Here are some things that I have in my closet that are things that I think that every closet could use and get a ton of use out of!
KEY PIECES TO TRANSITION YOUR CLOSET TO FALL
|| CARDIGANS ||
I am pretty sure that 6 out of 7 days of the week in the fall and winter I am wearing cardigans. I love that they layer so easily with pieces that I wore for summer to take them even longer. Cardigans are so versatile and I feel like a piece worth splurging on a little bit more than normal because you can wear them for not only multiple fall seasons but also for spring!
|| JACKETS ||
Jackets are my saving grace in my closet. When I’m not sure what to pair with something I always go to a jacket. They make a simple statement, layer effortlessly, and can be worn year round by layering them over different pieces from graphic tees to sweaters. These are one other piece that I feel like it is worth splurging more on and getting something that is timeless and will last you for years.
|| SWEATERS ||
Fall to me means sweaters and cozy. I feel like this is a place where you can save a little bit! If it is a timeless classic sweater then yes maybe spend a little bit more, but let’s be honest all my sweaters end up pilling, getting stains when they are dry clean only, and just not looking their best. I love to find more affordable options when it comes to sweaters and donate them after a season or two.
|| FLOWY TOPS ||
These are my favorite because they look so cute alone or under jackets. They are a piece that you can wear in the summer with some shorts and then pair again in the fall with jeans and some booties. Flowy tops are super flattering and are a piece that you can throw on without thinking, pair with basic denim and look like you put a lot of effort into your outfit.
|| LIGHT WEIGHT SWEATSHIRTS ||
This is another piece that you can wear in the summer time and then transition into fall. I love a light weight sweatshirt. I wear them with shorts, then jeans, and when it gets really cold outside layer them under jackets! They even can be worn with cute jogger pants or sweats too for more wears out of them!
|| LAYERING HENLEYS ||
These are what I am going to be living in this fall I have a feeling. I love a good layering piece and with nursing Lettie girl these are going to be my ride or die. I love that they can be worn tied, half tucked, with jeans, skirts, shorts, anything! You also can layer them under anything and they are perfect!!
|| BUTTON DOWN SHIRTS ||
I don’t know why but every few years I stop wearing button down shirts, remember a year or two later and re-fall in love with them every time. They are the most versatile piece ever if you ask me and a classic piece that won’t ever go out of style. I wear them alone, layer them over graphic tees, tuck them into skirts, pair them under cardigans/jackets, and the list goes on and on!
|| SWEATSHIRTS ||
My momiform is always a sweatshirt, jeans, and sneakers. It is my favorite thing! Sweatshirts aren’t very nursing friendly so I’m not sure I will be wearing them as much this fall, but I love that if you snag the right ones they are super flattering. All they need is jeans, sneakers, and a cute hair accessory like a pony tail with a scrunchie and you look darling plus are ready to chase your littles wherever they run to!
I hope this helps you to start prepping your closet for fall, think about what pieces are worth the splurge, and to get excited for layering and cozy clothes! I am so excited to start watching for the best deals to snag some of the pieces that my closet is needing for fall and to share them with you!
