How We Are Making It Through The Move.
As I am sitting here writing this, King is with the babysitter. I’ll be completely honest, the move is drowning me. There are boxes everywhere, we are headed on vacation (by the time you read this we will be on vacation), I have deadlines galore before I go, and everything in between. I have been trying to get on top of moving before we leave on vacation. Our entire kitchen is packed up, we have some snacks, plastic forks, paper plates, and 3 cups with straws left out. I always pack my kitchen up first and Zach never understands why. It is the most overwhelming thing for me to pack up, so many random shaped items, a million kitchen utensils, etc. it just is the thing I want done first and if we have to live off of Freshly Meals and OLLY Smoothies than so be it. I am more than happy living off of both of those things ha.
The move is rattling King up pretty good too. I mean, think about being a toddler, not understanding what is going on and watching everything you own being packed up in boxes and stacked away. He hasn’t been eating very good, has been acting out, and not sleeping at night. I can’t be mad at him about it either. He just is a sweet innocent toddler who has his entire life being uprooted right in front of him.
Right before I decided to pack up the kitchen I was walking the aisles at Target thinking of a few things I could keep in the cupboard after everything was packed up to keep King getting protein and nutrients, and something for myself to give me extra protein (I am always so low on my macros) and some energy. I found OLLY Smoothies, grabbed myself their new Super Foods plant protein blend and King the Kids Smoothie one and headed back home. Little did I know that finding these two tubs of smoothie powder would change how we are all reacting to the move, how much protein we are getting into our diets, and so much more.
Let me tell you a little bit about them so you get the full idea. Protein is a macronutrient in our bodies (yes here comes out my nurse talk). Nearly 20% off our body is made up of protein and that is why it is so important that we are getting enough of it. If we don’t get enough our bodies won’t be able to function properly. Our bodies don’t store protein, it has to be consumed daily to make sure that it is there to rebuild our body, our cells, and our tissues. It helps us maintain our immune function and supports our muscle health. See, I told you it is super important! Why is getting it in so hard for me? Especially when I know it is so important for my body.
Making sure King and I have our OLLY Smoothies is now his job. He gets so excited to ask for his “pink drink” and I love knowing that he is getting clean, plant protein in his diet. He loves how yummy it tastes (I just wish I could get him to eat real food as fast as he drinks his “pink drink”). I sip on mine through the morning or afternoon depending on the day. We are both left more full throughout the day, have so much more energy, and are getting nutrients that we need.
Somehow the move doesn’t seem so daunting when I am fueling my body with protein and the nutrients it needs to give me more energy. Now just wish us luck that everything goes according to plan and that we really move in this week!
