Little Baby Basics

Baby things are truly one of my favorite things to purchase. The tiny little pieces, soft fabrics, etc. Before sweet Lettie was born I realized that I am super picky with the clothes that I put my babies in. I don’t want them laying on something bumpy or scratchy. I want them in soft fabrics that won’t irritate their skin. 

Over time I have put together a list of my favorite baby basics to buy for my own littles and to give as gifts and I am so excited to share them with you! These are apparel basics and I will have another post in a couple weeks all about my newborn essentials which I am super excited about because you guys have been asking for both of these posts.

1 – TOWELS

I feel like having soft new towels is essential for a new baby. As towels get used they get scratchy and non-absorbent. Tiny babies get so cold getting out of their little sink baths that having a warm towel & soft towel to wrap them in is a must. I am in love with this towel that I snagged at Carter’s because it snaps so it doesn’t fall off of them, is super crazy soft, and it has a hood. 

2 – DRESSES

Putting Lettie in dresses makes my heart burst. They make her look like a tiny little lady and I think it is the sweetest thing. Finding a little basic dress is the best because they are comfortable for them to lay on, wash up amazing, and they look so sweet in them. You can switch it up with a classic print like a floral or keep it simple with a solid dress. They can be layered in the cooler months or worn alone when it is warm outside. They are the perfect piece to add to a baby’s closet and then build upon.

3 – T-SHIRTS

I don’t think there is a more basic piece that you can build upon than a little t-shirt. Solids are a must because of how versatile they are and adding printed tees is fun because it adds to any little outfit you put on them. They can be layered under dresses, rompers, overalls, etc. or worn under cardigans and jackets. Stocking up on little tee’s for building a newborn basics closet is my go to!

4 – ROMPERS & ONESIES

These are my favorite to buy. I absolutely love a little baby in a tiny one piece outfit. I also love that no thought really has to go into getting them dressed either. They are super comfortable for them to lay on or be in the carseat in. They also can be layered over or under just like a tee shirt.

Things that can be layered, wash up great, are soft fabrics, and that you love to put your little one in is key.
