Our Little Family Roadtrip
A couple weeks ago we decided to load up our little family and go on a road trip. We needed some time distraction-free, just the three of us. We told King we were going to go play at parks, go for walks, and eat all the treats we could get our hands on. That made him pretty excited and if ya know me too. Who doesn’t love treats and family time?
I packed everything up while Zach was at work and then when he got home we loaded the car. I packed in a small weekender bag and then we packed Zach and King’s stuff together in a duffle bag. I am always worried about space when we are road tripping, but we took our Baby Jogger City Tour stroller which is perfect for travel because of its size and the amazing travel bag and it gave us plenty of space in the trunk to be able to put all the shopping bags from our adventure, because we all know that this mama loves to shop.
Once the car was loaded, we headed out. We sang songs, laughed, went through drive throughs, and had good ‘ol conversation with no distractions. I think it is so important to teach King that it is important to have social skills, good conversation, and to be polite with how much everyone and everything is on social media these days.
We made a game plan for our quick getaway. We were going to have a picnic at the park, go on a little hiking trail, and eat lots of ice-cream with Diet Cokes never-ending. We arrived at the home we would be spending the night at and unloaded. We knew the next day would be jam packed, so we could drive home the following day and we were going to need to be on our A-game.
Our first stop was the park! It was so easy and quick to pull the stroller out and pop it up. We loaded it with our snacks for our picnic and were ready to go and play. King is obsessed with the park, I think it is because it is the only place right now that he is able to run free and play while we are living with my in-laws with not too many rules. We snacked, let him play, and just soaked in all the moments.
I love that King can climb right up into the stroller himself. He is obsessed with the belly bar across it and this mama is obsessed with the parent console on the back to hold all my things and the cup holder for my Diet Coke. It seriously is the stroller that pleases our whole family!
After the park, King went home and had a little nap. When he woke up and it was cooler outside, we headed for a little hike/trail walk. I love that we have the City Tour stroller because it saved us space in the back of the car and it rocked the trail like nobody’s business. King loved watching for all the different animals on our walk and would make sounds and growls at them to try to get them to come out. I don’t know that we had laughed that hard together as a family in a long time.
We have a few more trips planned this year through the summer and I am so grateful that we have the Baby Jogger City Tour to take on them. It seriously has been a life saver to be able to pack all of our things without worrying too much about space. Plus, for our flight to California later this summer, it folds up to be the size of a carry-on bag so you can store it in most overhead bins if you choose to do that, and it can be carried as a backpack so it isn’t a hassle. I love that it is so lightweight that I can even carry it through the airport without being tired when we get to the gate – ha! I know it is going to save us so many headaches and stress while we are traveling. I don’t think we have ever had a summer that is so full of traveling! We can’t wait!!
