Little Lettie Update
I wanted to share with you guys a little update on our sweet Lettie girl! I will be sharing her entire birth story in a couple weeks, but I wanted to share with you how she is doing now. I also have another post going up soon about how the transition to two littles has been, my breast feeding journey, postpartum essentials, and so much more. I can’t wait to share it all with you and this phase of life we are in.
Lettie came home on bili-lights due to being high risk jaundice. She had to go in and get lab work daily and was on the lights for 3 days. We are super grateful it was only for three days and that her system fixed itself with the help of the lights so quickly. We also are so grateful that they let you take lights home with you even though they were no fun to have her on and she hated them the first day or so.
A couple days after Lettie was off of the jaundice lights she threw up a blood clot. Being a nurse I knew that blood coming from the mouth was something that you don’t take lightly. I tried calling my pediatricians office and they were closed for staff meeting. Her color looked great, she was breathing with no difficulties, not fussing, her belly wasn’t distended, etc. I ended up calling one of my friends who works at a clinic and talking it through with her. We decided where she wasn’t having any other symptoms to wait for my pediatricians office to open vs taking her into the ER. When my pediatricians office opened I called and they said that it was most likely from having cracked and bleeding nipples and she was taking it in when she was nursing and then threw it up. Thankfully that is all that it was and she has been great since but it did give me a really big scare when it happened.
Lettie has been gagging through out the day and after feeding her about 20 minutes after she eats she will throw up all the contents of her stomach. I brought it up to my pediatrician and where I have so much milk (I have a major over supply) she is just eating more than she needs to and when her stomach contracts down she throws it up because it is too much on her little belly. He also said that she has reflux which King also had. He said that where King had it that it can be in genetics and he put her on some Zantac and it has been game changing for her. She doesn’t cry like she did after feedings, is so much more content, and it has been seriously so good to see her not upset!
We are completely obsessed and smitten with our Lettie girl! I will keep you updated on her, how she is, how King is, etc.! Thank you all a million for your love, support, sweet words, etc with bringing sweet Lettie into our family!
