LIVING ROOM UPDATES.0
We are moving, I know… But we re-did our living room a few months ago and I am so beyond excited to share it with you. We really brightened things up, kept neutral tones, and added a big pop of color with our rug. We spend the most time in our living room out of all the rooms in our home so it was somewhere we really wanted to reflect our little family, be functional, and also be the style we were really looking for… So… are you ready!? Here we go!!
The biggest things that I wanted with our living room is a space that is bright and functional. Somewhere where we could open the windows, let the natural light pour in and not need the lights on. The first thing we did was paint all of our walls a really light cream instead of the brown that they were before. This instantly brightened up our room and made my heart burst. In our next home, it will all be white on white, but this was the perfect balance here because we weren’t able to paint the shutters white, and Zach didn’t want to repaint all the trim either. I loved the result this gave the room.
Next, we updated our couches. The couches we had were from my parents home. The leather on them was bad and they had a bunch of holes in them that King loved to stick his finger in ha. We got these beautiful modern couches from Hayneedle and they made all my couch dreams come true! They are comfortable, functional (I can easily vacuum under them when King spills a snack), and they really updated our space. These couches wipe down so easily which is my favorite part of them. We find ourselves sitting on them all day, watching shows, playing cars on the arm rests, and talking about our days. These couches are where our family gathers. I could not be more impressed with the quality of them, how they have held up with a crazy 18 month old playing and jumping on them, and the look of them. They just might be one of my absolute favorite parts of our home. Zach and I were talking about pieces that needed to be sold with the move, brought with us, and would really fit the look of our new home. The couches and the rug were my top two must haves!
Now to the amazing rug. I wanted something fun and playful in our family room. Something that added color, personality, but also was easily vacuumed, wiped up, etc. This rug from NuLoom is every mama’s dream. We have friends over for snacks, and the rug vacuums and wipes up so easily! King can drive cars on it, have races on his elephant, and everything and it doesn’t hold us back at all. The print on the rug makes my heart burst. It is stunning and a conversation piece every time that someone comes in our front door!
Our family room is what I have always dreamed of, simple, neutral with still having a personality piece, and my biggest thing FUNCTIONAL! Littles need a room where they still feel like they can play, mama’s aren’t stressed out, and it fits your families personality. I am so excited to move these pieces with us to our new home when we find it and to have them also be a little reminder of this space, where we have came from, and where we are going.
Here is the before picture, amazing difference right!?
