I think that it is no surprise to any of you that I have a plaid problem. You probably notice them tied around my waist at least once a week… Ya… It is a problem. Isn’t the first step of having a problem admitting that you have a problem? But what if I don’t want to do any thing about that problem ha? I think that every single person needs some plaid in their closet. I mean, even baby King has his fair share of plaid button ups. They are one of the most versatile pieces in your closet, I promise you.
I love to find other ways to bring a little pop of plaid into our home. I about died when I saw these LISTERINE® Plaid Bottles! I mean, doesn’t the plaid obsessed girl need some plaid mouthwash in her bathroom? I think yes! I love to find outfit inspiration from things outside of the fashion world and this bottle has brought me so much inspiration. I love the mustard yellow through the plaid. I would have never thought to add pops of mustard to my red buffalo print plaid button up. Do you find inspiration from other places for your outfits?
I have had a few questions on how I put together my plaid looks with the button ups so I thought I would share with you my thought process in a tutorial type of way. I hope you find it helpful. Sometimes it is fun to see the thought process behind why people put together things the way they do.
First you will start with the staple piece that you are wanting, if it is your plaid shirt that is great, I generally start with a graphic tee or solid tee of some type. After you choose out that piece, find a piece that compliments it. If I am wearing a bright colored plaid, I like to stick with a more basic tee. Something generally black or white with not a ton of detail. If I am wearing a black and white or more neutral plaid button up then I like to make my graphic tee or top the focal point of the look. You with me here? Stay with me! Next choose your bottoms, plaid button ups are so cute tied around your waist as you can see below, this is generally my go to. They are so fun tied around a pencil skirt, denim jeans, or even colored jeans. (If you are nervous about colored jeans, pair them with a black, white, or tan top and a neutral plaid button up). You can even wear them tied over your favorite dress to give it a totally different look! Lastly accessorize! I like to wear simple necklaces when I wear a plaid so that it is more of a focal point in my look. You can dress them up with some heels, wear some cute flats, or even wear your favorite sneakers!
Even baby King wears plaid tied around his waist! I love to accent his fun rompers with them or even his graphic tees and skinny jeans.
The possibilities are truly endless with plaid! LISTERINE® has always been a big trend setter, but now they have paired with everyone’s favorite store Target for their Mad for Plaid collection. You can snag your limited edition bottle now until October 31st. There is also a cartwheel offer that will get you 10% off of a bottle, so it makes your plaid bottle that much better when you can get it on sale! I love using mouthwash and love that it gives me the little extra to achieve superior oral health. I mean, teeth are important! I only want to use the best and when it is in a plaid bottle, that is perfection to me! I love the feeling of mouthwash after I am done “swooshing” the tingly fresh feeling! I mean, who else is with me on this one?
