MEET MATT. THERE IS NOTHING DOWN ABOUT HIM AND HIS DOWN SYNDROME.
Meet Matt, he is my best friend and my biggest hero. I have shared about him a few times here and there and his entire story can be read here. Matt is literally the happiest kid on the block. He never complains and is so grateful for every little thing in his life. Matt is someone that when you meet him, if you look past his disabilities, you will meet the most loving, kind, giving, trash talking kid. He is so funny and loves to tease everyone that plays any time of board game, memory, or cards with him. He can beat anyone and everyone in Sorry!. He is my best friend, the person who I look up to more than anyone, and someone that I will always stand up for no matter what.
Matt has taught me more than you would ever imagine. He has taught me to love, look past outward appearances, be giving, not to take life so serious, and so many other things. Watching the way he pushes through his trials is something that is truly inspirational to me. He is so selfless, he worries about people all day ever day. Matt would give up everything that he has to make sure someone else is loved, taken care of, and feels special.
Something that was so important to me was making sure that King knew Matt, learned from him, and that he could feel Matt’s love. Watching these two is something that I could have never even hoped for. They have such a love hate relationship that is so funny to watch. King asks for Matt all day long and then when they are together King hits him ha. Matt says he worries about King and he misses him, then when King comes over he hides from him probably in fear that King will hit him again. However, they do have the sweetest moments together. King will ask Matt to come play Hungry Hippos with him and even though Matt can’t play, he will come sit by King the entire game. King will watch Matt in bed getting some of his treatments and climb right up to sit by him. Their relationship is something that is so amazing and I am so grateful that King gets to know and learn from Uncle Matt everyday.
