My Favorite House Plants
If you have been here for any time at all you know I am completely obsessed with house plants. They are my love language. Zach says I have become a crazy plant lady and I agree, but I love it. I have learned so much about plants and have even brought a few back from the dead ha. They are something that I feel like I can never have enough of either… a room can always have more plants if you ask me! There are also so many crazy benefits from having plants in your home, things like cleansing the air, etc. Let’s chat about my favorite houseplants and some tips and tricks of taking care of them.
EASY TO CARE FOR HOUSE PLANTS
SNAKE PLANTS
Snake plant is what I think is by far the easiest house plant that you can get. It doesn’t need to be watered hardly ever and it doesn’t need good lighting conditions either. I have vases of snake grass on top of all of our toilets in our bathrooms because they don’t need lighting and they have done great. Only water your snake plant once a month if that and only give it a tiny bit of water and it will do great!
FERNS
Ferns are my love language and I have brought a few back to life even. They are a plant that needs some humidity to it, but are a plant that grows fairly quickly and gives a ton of texture to a room. There are tons of different varieties of them too. My favorite are Asparagus Ferns and Boston Ferns. I have a really big Boston Fern that was on my porch last summer & fall and it grew like crazy! I only water them once a week when they are inside and a tiny bit every day when they are outside.
UMBRELLA TREE
This plant is new to me, but I am loving it already! It is the leafy plant on the right hand side that is tall. I hear that they are super hardy and that they will last a long time. I love the look of them with the way the leaves “droop” over and how there are so many different heights of the leaves too. I have been watching the soil on this to make sure it is always damp, but it has been watered about once a week right now.
RUBBER TREE
I don’t have one of these yet, but want one so bad! I’m just saving my pennies up because the one at the nursery is $75 (it is pretty big) and to drop that randomly on a plant isn’t in our budget ha. They are the prettiest plant and a dark dark shade almost black. I love that it will give a totally different color to the plants in my house and they grow super fast too. Mandy from Vintage Revivals is who I saw with one of these and I have been hooked ever since!
CARING FOR YOUR HOUSE PLANTS
A little tip that I learned in caring for your plants is that if it is browning at the root then it is overwatered and if it is drying up or browning on the leaves it is under watered. This is something that I have lived by since hearing it and it is so true! My plants have thrived since I have had this mentality. The other thing that I have learned is to never give up on a plant. We have had plants that have looked completely dead and had fungal gnats and now they are big and thriving! Don’t give up on them until you have given it a couple months to come back. Lastly, it takes a minute as silly as it sounds for your plant to get to know you and you to get to know your plant. You will learn what they need, what they don’t, and so much more. Take the learning curve with each plant and embrace it, it needs to get use to its new environment and you need to learn what it needs!

So many options. I was just thinking how I wanted to get an indoor plant. I am trying to figure out which one would be best, this was super helpful.
