My Number One Recommended Product to Any Mama.
Some of you may know, others may not that I am a pediatric nurse. I absolutely love my job. I do home health care and go into families homes to take care of their littles. It is the most rewarding job in the world. However, with that job comes so much knowledge. I always tell Zach that I feel like I know too much, too many different things that can happen to sweet babies, and that in knowing too much it makes me so anxious for my own little ones. I worry all the time if King is breathing still to this day, if he has a rash, if things are upsetting his stomach which all moms do, the only issue is I know all the really bad terrible things, like worst case scenario that can happen so I am sure that King has Necrotising Fasciitis all the time and so many other crazy things.
While nothing can replace looking at your little one, seeing them breathing, their skin tone, and their respirations ever, there is one thing that can give you peace of mind. King wore something called an Owlet while he was little. What it is, is a little sock that goes on your little ones foot that reads their oxygen levels and their heart rate all to an app on your phone. It is designed to notify you if your little one’s levels fall outside the preset zones. Like I said, nothing even in hospitals ever replaces looking at skin color, respirations, and listening to them breath. However, this little “magic” or “sanity saver” as I like to call it gives you peace of mind to know that your little one’s levels aren’t outside the preset zones on the Owlet. It tells you what your baby can’t.
This is what gave me my mama peace of mind to be able to sleep. While I still did (like I said, I am super crazy mama) sleep sometimes outside his door with it cracked to see him (he has always been fine) with the app on, it eliminated those days to minimal. I knew with the Owlet on him that I could look on the app, see his numbers, know his heart rate, and have the peace of mind that I desperately needed as a mama.
I get asked all the time about what my go to thing that every one having a baby (first baby or 7th) need to have and every single time my answer is an Owlet. Yes I think you need other things like a carseat and diapers (duh) but the one thing that I think that should be listed with those things is the Owlet. Nothing can replace the peace of mind that you are given with this on your littles. I am a real life every day Owlet user, real mama, and real advocate for it. It gives real peace of mind, real sleep, and real comfort to you. I have never heard one person that I have recommended it to say that it isn’t worth every penny plus more. I can’t scream from the roof tops loud enough that every single person needs an Owlet in their life.
I wrote about our Owlet here, however, Owlet has come out with a new product. It is a new sock and it is called the Smart Sock 2.0. The sock is now able to go on newborn and infants foot the exact same way (the old one when they were newborn had to be turned upside down) and it can now reach 10X farther than before with the bluetooth connection between the Smart Sock and the Base Station. It has a more secure fit which is more intuitive too. This means less false notifications (see nothing replaces looking and listening to your littles) because the placement of the sensor is more accurate. PLUS it can also be worn on both feet for your little one. No more remembering your lefts and rights ha.
What is the number one product that you recommend to your girlfriends when they are having babies? What gives you the most peace of mind as a mom in knowing that your little is safe and sound in their crib?
