New Years Eve at Home with Littles | Our Tradition
Ever since we have had littles we haven’t been one to go out and about for New Year’s Eve. We always do dinner with my parents at the same restaurant every year but have always left it at that. I have always wanted to start a fun tradition for my family that we can do every year. I wanted something super simple that wouldn’t overwhelm me (because who wants that on a holiday). Something that my little family can always look forward to doing when we get home from dinner with the family.
I’m taking part in Stage’s virtual holiday party this year and sharing our new New Year’s Eve tradition to help celebrate and #SetYourHolidayStage! I decided to do something simple, yet fun that is out of the ordinary for my little family. I don’t want my kids to stay up all night long on New Year’s Eve and want to keep close to our same bedtime. When thinking about what to do I wanted it to be something that we even could do during the day when we right down our goals for the coming year. We snagged a popcorn popper (I am a sucker for movie theater popcorn, to the point I use to make Zach drive to the theatre just to bring me home popcorn), snow cone maker, and a Carmel apple station and are going to have our own little family treat night at home. We can start a movie some years, play games other years, invite people over, or just stay home as our little family. We ordered everything on Stage Stores because I knew that I would get quality products at a good price and we are always impressed with our shopping experience there.
This was an initial investment to set up, but I spent a little bit more to get products that I knew would last for years and years to come. Plus for our birthday parties this year we are going to have a carnival and a drive in movie so all these things will be put to use again. Zach also set a bet on me that I would make popcorn in the new popper at least once a week and I’ll be honest, I think it will probably be even more than that ha.
We did a test run of New Year’s Eve when everything came and had a ball. Everything from snow cone making to popcorn fights and laughing until our bellies hurt. Holidays are all about making memories as a family for us and just being happy all together. I have had to let a messy house go and just enjoy my littles because this little voice in my head just keeps quietly reminding me that it will all be gone far too soon.
I would love to know what traditions you guys do for New Years Eve at your house. I love finding new things that we can do together as a family that aren’t overwhelming and are just all around good family fun time. Let me know in the comments so we can add some things to our list too!
