Our Cleaning & Laundry Routine
Cleaning and laundry… it is something that I feel like never ends. Anyone else with me? Just when I think I’m caught up then another mess happens. I use to clean my entire house one day a week and then do all my laundry another day of the week but then I realized I was never on top of things and I felt like I was just letting it all pile up dreading the day that it all would tumble on top of me. I finally found a solution that has helped me to feel like things are constantly picked up and that I am staying on top of things.
I break down my cleaning into one thing per day, I dust my entire house one day, vacuum everywhere, clean bathrooms, etc. This lets me only think about that one specific task vs cleaning an entire room one day. I also feel like I am accomplishing something for my home every day but am not overwhelmed by the thought of cleaning my entire house. This is how my schedule currently goes and some weeks it changes but for the most part it stays the same!
-feel free to pin this printable for future finding or to print it out and hang it at your house to follow too!-
I leave Friday as a catch all so I can either do a deep cleaning task that day or I can catch up on something that I missed during the week. Sticking to this schedule has been game changing and has me cleaning for a little bit every day vs spending all day one day cleaning and scrubbing my entire house.
LAUNDRY
Oh laundry, laundry is it’s own beast isn’t it? The thing that has worked the best for me lately is to start a load before I go to bed at night and put the washing machine on delay start so it is done in the morning when I wake up. When I wake up I go down stairs and hang everything up to dry or throw a few items in the dryer. When I go to start a new load at night I take everything out of the dryer and fold them and put them away so I am only ever working on one load at a time. Of course I get behind and have days where I have 17 loads I feel like to fold and put away, but when I do stay on top of it, it is life changing with how much I can get finished.
I also have these two baskets that are in these pictures that are for each of my littles CLEAN laundry. That way when I am done folding it I can put it in their individual basket until the next day when I am ready to put it away when they are awake. This way it doesn’t take their dirty clothes hamper away and it can still be used while I am procrastinating putting laundry away.
I hope this helps you to find a cleaning/laundry schedule that works for you and that you are able to follow to stay on top of it. Consistency has been key for me to stay on top of things!
