Our Favorite Educational iPad Games
|| TRACE YOUR NAME ||
This is one of our favorite apps. It let’s you put your child’s name in (we have our whole family) and then they get to write it/trace it. It has helped King to write his name more than I could have imagined. It is $1.99 but totally worth it in my opinion. In order for King to earn a game or a show on the iPad he has to write his name 3 times along with some other things. This let’s us switch it up from writing on paper.
|| HIP HOP HEN FLASH CARD ||
This says it is currently unavailable because it is updating but we love it! I will watch for it to be available again. It has matching games of letters to pictures, ABC songs that it sings, etc. It is a really fun one!
|| LETTERTRACING ||
This says it is currently unavailable because it is updating along with Flash Card (they are from the same company along with Jigsaw below). This one pulls up a letter and they have to trace inside of it. It makes fun sounds and makes them be pretty close to drawing the letter correctly but also not so precise that they won’t do it.
|| JIGSAW ||
This says it is currently unavailable because it is updating too. This is King’s favorite. It is puzzles of letters and he drags the pieces where they go. It makes the sound of the letter the entire time that he is touching the piece so he learns the sounds of each letter.
|| TRACE IT, TRY IT ||
This is another letter tracing app that we use all the time. this one has a learn the letter section, play the letter section, and practice the letter section. Under learn they trace the letter starting with an animal and follow the number dots to correctly trace it. The play section has stickers that they get to color for each letter and there is also matching. Lastly the practice section has them write the letters by themselves inside of the letter without the number dots! This app is $2.99 but completely worth it in my opinion.
|| OSMO ||
King received an OSMO for Christmas and it has been the best thing ever. He has 20 minutes of homework on his list to earn screen time and he always picks the OSMO. You have to buy the dock and games on Amazon but then it works through your iPad. He has a tangram one, Numbers, Words, and we bought him the Pizza Kitchen making game for when we are on our trip to play. It grows with your child which is amazing. It has a mirror on the dock part that lets the camera of the iPad see what your child is doing and then it puts that into the app. It is so cool!
Those are our favorites as of right now. I will watch for the Hip Hop Hen games to come available again and let you know as soon as they do. If you have any other educational games that you love will you share them in the comments below?
Make sure that you PIN the image below so you will know where to find this post again later!
