Our Morning Routine to a More Productive Day
You guys have been asking a lot over on Instagram about my morning routine and how I am getting so much done with a newborn. The honest answer is that I’m not. I am not getting enough sleep, I am at my wits end quite frequently, and I am truly just trying my best to soak in the newborn snuggles, make sure that King is getting enough attention and feels loved, I am a good wife, my house is picked up, and that I am managing this business of mine. It is hard you guys and most days a lot of things fall through the cracks like a well balanced meal, my floors are super sticky, King wears the same clothes multiple days in a row because it isn’t worth the fight, emails go unanswered, blog posts unwritten, etc. I don’t have it all together by any means, but here is our routine that helps me to get more done in a day and try to keep my life somewhat put together.
4:15-4:30 – Lettie wakes up to eat.
6-6:30 – Lettie wakes up to eat. I feed her and then wake up myself and get myself ready for the day. Zach will generally burp her after she eats and get her back to sleep while I get ready.
7:15-8:30(ish) – I work on the computer in the kitchen and try to get as much done in around an hour that I can.
8:30-9:00 – King wakes up and we get him dressed and breakfast. I unload the dishwasher and move laundry while he eats and pack his backpack for school.
9:30-12:30 – On M-W through the summer King goes to preschool. I drop him off and then either come home and work or I run errands that I don’t want to take two littles to like Costco.
12:45 – King is home from preschool. I do my cleaning for the day (I have certain things I do on certain days) and King cleans his room, makes his bed, vacuums his room, and does his chore for the day.
1:15 – I generally load King up in the car because he still naps. We are trying to figure out the best thing for him. If he doesn’t nap from 1 until bedtime he is so angry and that can’t be fun for him…if he does nap then he won’t go to bed until around 11:30 and that is just insanity… If King naps then I try to get some more work done or pick up my house and get the cleaning I didn’t get done earlier finished.
3:15 – King wakes up from his nap. We do a craft or an activity. This is my hardest time of the day with him even if he naps, he just struggles from this time so we try to make it a little more fun and happy for everyone by doing something together.
4:45 – 5:00 – I start to prep what needs to be done for dinner and pick up the remainder of the house. If King has been good all day and cleaned his room/done his chore then he gets to play iPad.
6:00 – Daddy is home and we eat dinner.
7:30-9:00 – Right now we work or play outside!
9:15 – Baths and Bedtime for King
10:00 – I start to work again writing content, answering emails, etc.
12:00 – I head to bed and then start it all over again!
I have found the biggest thing that makes me so much more productive is not going back to sleep when Lettie gets up to eat around 5:30-6:30. If I wake up, get ready, and start my day then I am so much more productive. As soon as I am cleared to workout I am hoping to get up, work out, and then get ready and start my day. It truly has been game changing to get up and get going. I have also found that if I don’t get on social media or answer/check my email first thing in the morning that it really helps too. I sit down and am creative first with writing and planning content, then I let the other things come in like emails, contracts, etc.
I would love to hear what you guys do that makes for a productive day! I think everyone has their own little tricks and tips and I would love to know what works for you!
