We have lived in our home for two and a half years now and I’m itching for some changes. Anyone else start looking for ways to make their home feel fresh and new without completely re-doing things? I feel like I go through this phase with furniture and decor pretty frequently but with light fixtures, paint, etc. it is about every two-three years. When we built our home we did all of our own lighting. We purchased it all outside of our builder and outside of our loan. We went super affordable knowing that it was something that we could easily change out as time went on. Well that time had come for our kitchen and I couldn’t love it more.

I wanted to keep with the bohemian feel that I have been completely obsessed with and keep the lights white so that it really brightened the space. Our previous lights were silver diamond shape (we literally paid $12 per light) and they had never been my favorite. I wanted something that fit the feel of my home right now but also could match multiple styles and designs as I like to freshen up and change things out frequently. I pulled together an inspiration board of lights that I loved from Joss and Main (you can read that post here) and Zach and I sat down, did measurements of every light and then decided what would work best for our space.
I could not love these lights more. I love that they are a ton (8 inches to be exact) bigger than our previous lights and the space really needed that. The white really pops against our darker cabinets and I love the texture that they bring to my kitchen. It is crazy what a small change like changing out your pendant lights can do to a space.
The next space that we had that needed some love is right next to our ovens. It is an awkward space that eventually I want to do open shelving on but right now that isn’t something that Zach has time to build for me. I knew I wanted something rattan because I am obsessed with the texture and chill vibe that it brings to my house and something that I could put more plants on because hello, we all know what a proud plant mom I am.
When I saw this rattan bar cart I knew it was the one. I used some money that I had saved up from Christmas and snagged it right up. I love that it looks perfect in my kitchen but can we just talk about how cute it would also be as a changing table in the baby’s room!? There are truly so many options for this cart so I knew that I was putting my money toward something that I can use in multiple spaces, multiple ways.
I am IN LOVE with this space in my kitchen now. Lettie absolutely loves that we get to water all the plants together and secretly I love that I am turning her into a proud plant parent as well. Our kitchen is a place where we all tend to gravitate to, we create so many memories together in this space so I knew it was the first space that I wanted to give a little face life to and I am so beyond thrilled with how the pieces from Joss and Main changed the look so simply.
If you are looking to freshen up or change a space up, look to change out simple things like lighting, paint colors, or even some furniture first. Tearing out cabinets and flooring isn’t necessary to give your space a whole new look and feel, trust me on that. Plus, your husband will probably be happier with smaller changes first anyways ha.
