Pairing Textures Together & a Dressy Black Jumpsuit
Pairing textures is one of my favorite things when it comes to putting outfits together, like this dressy black jumpsuit. When you first start you do have to be a little bit gutsy because it is kind of an unknown, but I promise that once you start to do it you will absolutely love it. I have a few tips and tricks to mixing textures with outfits for you to get you started, but after that just try things on! Some things you will love instantly, others you will completely hate, and that is all okay. It takes learning what you like paired together and really it is generally just tossing a textured jacket on top or a vest and those are easy to swap out.

This dressy black jumpsuit outfit is one of my favorites from the holidays and I think still is perfect through the winter time. It has a slickery metallic fabric to it and if you are new to mixing textures you could look at it and think it is a little bit tricky to pair. When I got it in the mail I fell in love because there was so many different possibilities to it. I ended up mixing 3 different types of textures in this look and it took some playing around in the mirror to see what I loved. Some things will be easy to mix textures with, others a little bit more tricky, but that is okay! That is what makes it fun to pair! Here are some tips and tricks for when it comes to mixing textures together…
1 – Start simple. Generally lace is a pretty easy texture to mix with and so is leather, denim or cotton. Don’t go too crazy, just mix two textures and I promise it will be pretty simple.
2 – Always pair a jacket when in doubt. Jackets are the easiest way to add texture. There are also so many different textures that come in jackets. Everything from suede to denim & leather. They are super easy to throw on over a top or dress and add another texture to it.
3 – Don’t doubt yourself. If you look at it at first glance and hate it, don’t be discouraged. Send me a picture or try a different texture with it. Maybe try your texture somewhere else like in your shoes, a hat, etc. I promise it takes a second to get use to mixing different textures and I also promise that you are a lot harder on yourself that anyone else. Trust your gut, try again, and girl I promise you will have it down in no time.
