Shopping + Giving Back All At The Same Time
I think like most people the holiday season is my favorite time of year. I love the spirit and the feeling of everything. I wish it was something that I could figure out how to keep all year long and that is something that I am constantly striving for.
This year I wanted to get my kids more into the giving side of things, and when I say giving I don’t mean giving gifts. I want them to learn to give back to the people/organizations/communities around them. I always want to be an example of how we can help those who may not have what we have or even just to brighten someone else’s day.
When I found out about Gordmans #BearsThatCare Campaign I knew it was the absolute perfect way to include my kids. Children with medical conditions is something so near and dear to my heart with my special needs brother who passed away and being a pediatric nurse. Gordmans (which you know I love to get my kids Nike stuff at) currently has stuffed Bears that you are able to purchase. When you purchase the bear, Gordmans will donate to St. Jude’s Hospital to kids who have cancer or pediatric diseases. Having Matt apart of my life has been such a huge blessing, and I’m so grateful King was able to know him too. When I talked to King about the special bear, it helped so much to reflect back to Matt and help him know there are tons of kids just like him that we can help by supporting organizations like St. Judes.
Don’t we all go into a store with intentions of buying a gift for someone and we leave with some random thing that our little one just “had to have”? I made a very clear point to do my holiday shopping at Gordmans (my kids are getting Nike outfits, Hurley sweats & hoodies, and shoes) and talk to them as we walked through the store all about how there are little kids who could use our help. The best part of it is, if you don’t have a Gordmans near you, you can use #BearsThatCare on social media and Gordmans will also donate to St. Judes when the hashtag is used. For every feed post that has #BearsThatCare Gordmas will donate $1 now through December 31st.
Giving back is truly something that is so simple to do especially when places like Gordmans make it simple for us. I encourage you to go to Gordmans, snag some gifts and buy a bear or to use #BearsThatCare on social media and give back in such a simple way.
