START BEING AWESOME.
My cute husband made me this sign for the chevron bathroom we painted together. He gave this to me for Mothers Day this year (no I am not pregnant, my husband is just that awesome). If you know us you know this is one of our favorite sayings at our house. I was so excited to hang it up and thought it matched the bathroom perfectly!
First, remove the 1×4’s from the pallet. I pried one board off but that took too long so I used a sawsall and cut through the nails. Way better than prying.

After all the boards were removed, I ran them through the table saw. I did this to get clean edges and different board widths.
Once the boards were off, I painted all the boards white. I used Rustoleum (satin white) that I picked up at Home Depot.
Once the boards were all white, I nailed them together. I used two pieces across the back for support and nailed the pallet boards to them. I then created the text/stencil in photoshop and printed it out on a large printer at work.
Painted and assembled, I covered the entire surface with painters tape.
I made the printout/stencil the same size as the sign. I taped the printout/stencil on top then used a sheetrock knife to cut the words out. After I was done cutting all the words, I peeled all the tape off except the letters. With just the letters taped, I then painted over the whole sign. I’m not too good at waiting to peel off the letters, so after the first coat I peeled them off.
I let it dry for a couple hours then sanded the whole sign with 220 grit sand paper. Then applied some Antiquing Glaze, I picked it up at Lowe’s. I rubbed the glaze over the sign, let it try for a bit, and then wiped most of it off.
And that’s how to make a “legen, wait for it, dary” sign. (Both of these sayings are from How I met you Mother)
