So… I have to admit, Matt is kind of an MARVEL’s The Avengers nerd… Like go to the midnight showing die hard, decorated room, superhero planning “meetings”, junkie. He absolutely loves them. He puts reminders in his phone to know when the new movies are coming out, has his nurses play “bad guys” with him, and talks about them constantly. We knew that he was going to be so excited when the new MARVEL’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron movie was going to come out. I decided to to something special for him and throw a surprise movie viewing party for him and his friends.
I set everything up one day in a room at my parents house that he doesn’t come into very often so that way I could surprise him. I have to say, I love how the table turned out. The theme for the party and for his friends was SUPER HERO, SUPER YOU. I wanted them to be excited about the movie, but also to recognize positive attributes or “super powers” that they have. I thought this would be a fun way to have the party have some more meaning behind it. I started by buying some MARVEL The Avenger’s costumes at Walmart for him and his friends to dress up in while they watched the movie. The price on them was so amazing that they each can take the costume home with them for their “party favor”. I decided to also use them as part of my decor. Who doesn’t love functional & multipurpose decor? After I decided which costumes I was going to use, I based my color scheme off of them. The colors I tried to stick with were RED, ORANGE, GREEN, BLUE, & WHITE.
I found these fun drinks that matched the colors perfectly and made them my “table runners”. Once again, functional decor that serves a purpose. I lined them up in a pattern down the table and loved how it brought all of the colors into the table in such a simple way.
This jar is filled with papers. Each of the guests wrote down “SUPER POWERS” or things that they liked about themselves and everyone at the party. I love that it had them think about what they really like about themselves and attributes that they see in others. It gave the party such special meaning when we read them out loud. The look on each of their faces was priceless when they had nice things being read about them.
I loved that a few of the costumes came with masks. I brought them into the table decor to really have the MARVEL The Avenger’s feel to it. It was an easy decoration that the guests love to pull off the table and play with. I also love that they were a fun way for people to get involved with the party if they didn’t want to wear the full costume.
The a couple of the costumes came with some fun extras like the MARVEL The Avenger’s identification card pictured above, or the fun watch that the picture changes pictured below. These pieces the guests thought were so fun.
I think that these HULK hands were my favorite thing and the guests. They are sold separately from the HULK costume, but they are so affordable that they are totally worth the buy. They are filled with batting so it makes your hands look like the HULK’s. The guests thought they were the most fun thing. I think that these could have kept everyone entertained all day.
We all sat and watched the movie MARVEL’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron and had a blast eating snacks and dressed up as our favorite character. What is more fun than watching a movie dressed up as your favorite character? We also would act out some of the scenes out of the movie as the character we were dressed up as and I think that was the highlight of everyone’s night.
You can find the costumes down the Halloween aisles and the DVD/Blu-Ray combo pack in the electronics department at your local Walmart.
Who is your favorite MARVEL’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron character? Have you purchased the movie yet?
