Tips for Wearing Non-Maternity Dresses
Babes, as the countdown to baby #2 arrival gets closer, the more selective I am getting with my clothing selection- especially maternity dresses. This pregnancy I have been trying to recycle as many non-maternity dresses, so today I figured I would share a few simple tips on how to wear non-maternity dresses while you are expecting.
I don’t want to spend a ton of money on maternity dresses that I will only wear a handful of times and then stick them in a tote for a few years until I possibly wear them again and cross my fingers that I bought pieces that are still on trend. Instead I take a little bit more time when I’m shopping and make sure that the pieces that I am snagging are pieces that I can wear while I’m pregnant and then again after I have the baby.

|| SHIFT DRESSES ||
Finding dresses that are shift dresses are the perfect thing to wear maternity or non-maternity. They don’t hug your body too tight. I will say some of these are hit or miss depending on how much wiggle room that you have. If needed I do size up one size so it is a little extra roomy and even a little bit longer.

|| DRESSES WITH ROUCHING ||
Let me start out with saying that this dress is my ride or die to the point that I bought it in 3 different colors. It does run big so size down one size if you are buying it non-maternity. I am wearing an XXS here and while it is a little bit tight and I have to carefully pull it over my bump it still works great and will be even more perfect when I am not pregnant. The rouching is on one side of it rather than both and that is something I love. Rouching is super flattering when you’re pregnant and even more flattering when you aren’t!

|| JUMPERS ||
This goes for the same as the swing dresses, they are hit or miss and you have to make sure that it is roomy enough for your bump to fit into or a stretchy fabric. I sized up on this one just to be safe and it will still be darling when I’m not pregnant and just a little bit oversized! Plus jumpers are the best because they can be worn for so many different seasons!
|| BODYCON DRESSES ||
I think by now we all know that I have an obsession with bodycon dresses and being pregnant. I love how comfortable they are and that they are so versatile. I generally order my regular size in them unless they seem short and then I will size up (which I do when I am not pregnant too).
|| DRESSES WITH ELASTIC UNDER YOUR BUST ||
These are something that I can only wear for so long until my bump gets too big, but while I can wear them I love them! They are super flattering with a pregnant belly. Just make sure that you are closely paying attention to wear the elastic is going to hit your body and even make sure you place it above your bump when putting on your dress!
