I think that no matter who you are, what you do, or where you are from, everyone appreciates a good night’s sleep and tries their hardest to achieve it. I saw sleep in a whole new light after having King. Sleep is something that is so important for me to have now that I am a mom, and something that is a lot harder for me to achieve. I wanted to share a few things with you that I have found to help me to achieve a good night’s sleep and how to make your bedroom a place that will promote a good night’s sleep.
King keeps me running all day long so by the time bedtime hits I am past ready to go to sleep. Sometimes I have missed my “golden window” of sleeping and am now over tired. I have realized that even if I have things to do, if I want to have a good nights sleep then I need to make sure to go to bed in my “golden window”. Does anyone else have a period of tiredness that if they pass then they can’t go to sleep because you are over tired?
#1 – Make sure to go to bed before you hit your second wind or are over tired. This will help you to fall asleep quicker and to be able to sleep longer, perfect right?
I try to have a glass of Emergen-Zzz* every night while I wind down. Emergen-Zzz a natural sleep aid that comes in the form of a melatonin infused drink mix featured in delicious flavors such as Peach and Nighttime Berry. I love that it is something that helps me to wind down before I go to sleep. It is a simple and yummy drink that I can have while I read my book to help me calm down. I also take Advil PM at this time to. I have minor aches and pains from past injuries that can keep me up at night. If I take my Advil PM while I read at night, I will find myself getting tired and ready to go to sleep in about 20-30 minutes. (It works differently for different people so just know it could work longer or shorter). This is the perfect amount of time for me to read and to wind down. You will find your perfect time to have your Emergen-Zzz & Advil PM, it will be a game changer people.
#2 – Find products that will help you to have some sleep solutions. I have found that I love Emergen-Zzz and Advil PM. I have some friends that love to use Nexium 24HR to help with their frequent heartburn that keeps them up at night. They love that it is a once a day treatment that really helps their frequent heartburn. Find what works for you and stick with it. It may take a minute, but it will be worth it. I also don’t take these every night, I take them when I have been struggling to sleep for a couple nights to help me achieve a good nights rest.
Try to keep the decor in your room simple. Things that are overwhelming will keep you up at night. Try to stay with colors that are calming. It is best to limit the amount of decor or to keep the room clean and tidy. For me, a cluttered room is a cluttered mind. I can’t sleep well if my room or house is a mess. I try to make sure my room is picked up before I start my night time routine. We also have kept our decor very simple and clean to make sure that we aren’t keeping our minds too active when we are trying to rest.
#3 – Keep your room decor simple and your room clean/tidy. This will help to let your mind rest.
I am not the best at this, but I am really striving to make sure that I don’t watch TV or am on my phone in my room when it starts to be my bedtime routine. The light on both the phone and the TV aren’t good for winding down and going to sleep. Limit your distractions. Try not to watch TV or be on your phone at least a half hour before you go to bed. I try to put everything away before I start my night time routine that we will talk about next. Try things that will calm you down, things like reading, meditating, or anything else that helps to calm you down.
#4 – Limit your distractions in your bedroom. Turn off the TV and your phone at least a half hour before you go to bed and even turn down the lights. This will help your body to know that it is time to go to sleep and for it to naturally produce melatonin.
Have a routine that you do every night before you go to bed. I always start with washing putting my pajamas on, washing my face, brushing my teeth, taking my contacts out, etc. This helps my body to know that I am preparing to go to bed. I then go down stairs and get my Emergen-Zzz ready, come up drink it, take my Advil PM, and read my book. When I am finished reading my body knows that it is time for me to go to sleep. Having a routine helps our bodies to know what is coming next and the best way to prepare itself for it.
#5 – Have a nightly routine that you will stick to every night. It doesn’t matter what it is. It can be simple or complex, but it will help your body to prepare to go to bed for the night and promote a better night’s sleep.

i love these tips! and your blog is adorable my friend! so glad i came across it!
I try to follow most of these but sometimes my mild aches and pains keep me from just getting comfortable at night. I’ll have to try Advil PM during my evening routine to see if it can help. It sounds like now’s the perfect time with this great deal at Walgreens! #client
