Tips & Tricks to Ordering Holiday Cards & Personalized Gifts
I know I keep saying this but I truly can’t believe how fast this year has gone and that it is time to start getting my custom holiday cards out. If you have known me for awhile you will know that I am obsessed with sending cards. I love to send my friends handwritten cards, thank you cards for just about anything and everything, and my favorite holiday cards.
When Zach and I were first married I sent out cards for just about every holiday with pictures of just the two of us. Halloween, Valentines, fall, literally everything. As you can tell I had a lot more time on my hands before I had two sweet littles that I get to spend my time with caring for now.
While I still send out thank you cards, cards to my friends, the rest of the holidays besides Christmas have really gone away. As much as I wish I made the time for it I don’t and it is the phase of life I am in and that is okay. I do make sure to do a killer holiday card though to make up for not sending out the other holidays.
Tips & Tricks to Ordering Holiday Cards
I have a lot of practice with ordering holiday cards so I thought I would share my tips and tricks with you!
1 – Don’t wait for the perfect photo. If you are like me you will want to get “Christmas Card” pictures done and they will keep getting bumped back on your calendar and then next thing you know you won’t have your cards out. We used family pictures we had taken this summer and I love how they turned out. My mom uses iPhone pictures of our families through the year and I absolutely love that. Don’t wait to have the picture perfect, I promise they will be perfect with any photo.
2 – Put a calendar reminder in your phone that reminds you around the first of November to start thinking about them and then another reminder a week or two before Thanksgiving to order them. Time flies and if I don’t have a reminder in my phone then I forget. Mine is reoccurring so every year it automatically goes off to remind me.
3 – Go somewhere you can trust to order them. There is nothing worse than ordering cards you think you are going to love, having them come in the mail, and they aren’t the quality you thought they would be. We order with Mixbook because I know they are going to come on nice paper, the wording and our photo will be crisp looking, have tons of designs for Christmas cards, and that they will get to us with no problems. * You can use promo code dani50 for 50% off your first order! *
4 – Pick out the photo you are going to use before you pick out your card. I like my photos to match/correlate with my card so knowing what photo(s) I am going to use ahead of time makes picking out a card so much faster!
5 – Don’t make it complicated! I always wonder what to write in a Christmas Card and over complicate it. Our cards literally say “Happy Everything” on the front that was in the card design and then on the back says “Love, Dani, Zach, King, & Lettie” that is it! It doesn’t have to be a lot of wording unless you want it to be!
6 – Get your return address printed on the envelopes so you don’t have to hand write it. It makes the process of addressing cards so much easier!
7 – Put your addresses and list of who you send cards to every year in a Google Doc, then you will always have it every year and won’t be searching for addresses like I do. I need to take my own advice on this one!
This year for Christmas we are really focusing on gifts that have meaning behind them. We are getting both of our parents photo books from Mixbook full of either a trip we went on all together or photos from activities through out the year. I’ll be completely honest, I don’t have time to make a photo book for people. I don’t have time to pick all the formatting of the pages, arrange the photos perfectly, etc. That is why I use Mixbook and their quick and easy photo books. You click the theme you want your book to be, upload all your photos, then click “autofill” and it fills in all the pages with the photos in chronological order. It is game changing. I made both of our parents books in under 20 minutes and had them ordered and ready to come in the mail.
Mixbook has the best quality of photo books. The pages on the photo books are so thick that I always think I have two pages. King can’t ruin them or tear them easily when he is looking at them so I know they will last us years upon years, grandkids can look at them, etc. Isn’t that what books and things are for is to look at and enjoy?
Whether you are looking to make photo books, order your Christmas cards, or anything else check out Mixbook. I promise it is the best quality you will find and that you will be so grateful to have all those photos and memories printed out where you can enjoy them.
