Topsy Tail to Twisted Bun Updo Hair Tutorial

Babes!! Hair tutorials are BACK!! I know, I know they kind of were put on the back burner during the beginning of my pregnancy because I was so sick and then the craziness of the holidays came and it was just game over. Tuesdays are going to be all about hair, we will have a series all about extensions (you can read the first post here all about the different types of extensions), posts about what products to use on your hair for different types of the year, etc. Hair tutorials will come every other week and I am so excited. They are one of my favorite things to put together so I can’t wait to share you the ones that I have in mind, starting with this topsy tail to twisted bun updo!

This topsy tail to twisted bun updo tutorial is perfect for heading to the gym when you have somewhere to go after, swimming in the summer time, or the days that you know you are going to be running around and just need your hair out of your face. It is a style that will stay in really well which is important to me. I hate when I do a cute style to look in the mirror a couple hours later and it is a disaster because it didn’t stay in very well. Anyone else know that feeling? This twisted bun updo is also a super simple style that will take you less than 10 minutes which I think we all need some days!

THINGS YOU WILL NEED YOU YOUR TWISTED BUN UPDO:
Clear elastics
Brush
Hairspray (if that is your jam)
STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS:
1 – Start on the side that has the least amount of hair in your part. Take a section of your bangs if you have them or your baby hairs that tend to fall out and add some of your longer hair into it. This section should be about 1 1/2 to 2 inches big. If you prefer to have your bangs down you can, I like mine down, just leave them out.
2 – Place a clear elastic in making a small pony tail. Right above the elastic make a small hole and pull the end of the pony tail through the hole making a topsy tail. You can see a good tutorial on how to topsy tail here.
3 – Repeat as far down as you would like doing the same steps as 1-2.
4 – You can leave your hair down like this if you prefer, or you can continue to keep going to make the bun!
5 – Gather up all the remaining hair and pull to one side, (the side that you have your topsy tails going toward).
6 – Twist the hair all together and make a bun.
7 – Secure your twisted bun updo with an elastic and bobby pins if needed.
8 – Finish off with hairspray and you are set!!
