THE WINTER STYLE GUIDE HOLIDAY REMIX HEAD TO TOE – HOT CHOCOLATE DATE
This post is sponsored by Shoe Carnival, our obsession with the shoes is all our own.

As you know we are obsessed with creating holiday traditions as I chatted about here. Something else we have added to our list that is a new favorite is going on hot chocolate dates! Generally people do them snuggled inside with blankets, cozy socks, the fire on, and maybe a Christmas movie on. We wanted to remix it by taking it out on the town with our little family! They are something so simple to head out and do, so it makes it fun because there isn’t really any planning necessary except for what to wear! I love to put together outfits for our entire family (when Zach will let me ha) all the way down to my shoes! (Can I just say our obsession with Shoe Carnival is real.) I wanted us all super cozy, yet comfortable and cute for our outing to walk around, see all the holiday decor, and sipping on hot chocolate.
I started with each of our shoes. I wanted us to be in comfy shoes that were trendy and warm. I mean, is that too much to ask? NOPE it sure isn’t. Everyone always wears the traditional snuggly warm boots and we wanted to switch it up and remix it with sneakers for everyone! Zach is obsessed with these tan leather Nikes, like obsessed may be an understatement and trust me, I am just as obsessed with them. He even went as far as calling them “LIT” ha ha. I love that they are a good neutral tan to match literally everything so I don’t have to pick out his shoes to match his outfit, they keep his feet super warm, and he said they are super comfortable. Hello, do they make them in women’s because I need them. Next, let’s just talk about King’s tiny Converse. They need a minute for themselves right? They are leather people, LEATHER! I love that they keep his feet warm, they are easy to put on him, and he can’t take them off himself. Total mom win. Okay, so I may be biased but my New Balance sneakers might be my favorite out of all of our shoes, ha because they are mine! I have been wanting a pair of New Balance sneakers for awhile now and finally snagged this pair. I love that they are mostly black so they don’t get dirty as easy, they are like walking on clouds, and seriously year round shoes. We snagged all our shoes at Shoe Carnival and we are truly obsessed with them. You should see my wish list right now you guys…
Okay, now that we have that taken care of and we are in comfy warm shoes, let’s get to the snuggly part of our clothes!
Zach is still full blown in the flannel phase and I love him in a flannel (especially with those Nike’s!). King wore the cutest coat that would let the water run off of him because it was lightly snowing, but the knit sleeves keep him cozy. I wore the perfect oversized cozy cardigan that kept me warm and functional to be a mama.
We headed out for our hot chocolate date and it couldn’t have been more perfect. We snuggled by the fire, laughed and giggled as King danced on the table for us, and we sipped hot chocolate. It was so fun running around with King, nothing really planned but each other’s company and looking at all the holiday decorations. Our toes were warm and comfy, our bellies full of hot chocolate, and our hearts so full. Sometimes it is so important to plan something simple that lets you enjoy the moment, have no plans really, and just enjoy each other.
I will say, always make sure that you are warm, comfy, and your feet are comfortable and on trend too. There is nothing worse than enjoying a good time and your feet being cold or hurting from your shoes. Pack snacks, let your mind settle down, lower your expectations of your outing, and just enjoy the moment. There is nothing better than spending time with your family, truly embracing the moment you are in, and letting your heart feel so full and recognizing it.
