Working on Myself Post Baby
After having Lettie I knew that eventually I wanted to be able to get back in shape, eat healthy again, and just have a healthier lifestyle in general. I will be completely honest with you I haven’t worked out consistently in 10 years. I eat like a garbage disposal…cookies for breakfast, no lunch or if I need something I eat some junk food, and then we will eat a healthy(ish) dinner. I do make sure to feed King healthy and to make sure that I am fueling his little body with what it needs to grow and be healthy. I think a lot of it is that I get so caught up in taking care of my littles, working, picking up my house, etc. that I forget to take care of myself. My physical and mental being really need to be taken care of and that is what I am striving to do.
A while ago I talked about how I broke my leg years ago, I had a complete tibia fracture from having 6-10 sheets of sheet rock fall on top of me. I have a full rod through my leg now and as much as I wish it didn’t bother me, my leg hurts all the time. I have been to multiple doctors, fracture care specialists, chiropractors, muscle therapists, etc. to get it fixed and absolutely nothing seems to help. I have tried wearing different shoes, noticing what shoes bother my leg, doing different exercises to strengthen it and still nothing. I recently started doing Bikini Body Guide and guess what happened? With me working out consistently has significantly helped my leg. It doesn’t hurt nearly as much, I can wear the shoes I had to stop wearing, etc.
I am excited to be able to add some running back into my workouts now that my leg is more strengthened. I knew that I needed a good running shoe that would really be supportive to keep my leg/muscles from going back to what they use to be. I ordered some highly recommended Brooks Running Shoes from Zappos along with some leggings and a tee because who doesn’t want cute new workout clothes? I have been running a few times now since adding it into my routine and I am so impressed with these shoes. They aren’t too heavy, they are super supportive, and they are crazy comfortable. The leggings I snagged have just the right amount of stretch to them, aren’t see through, and this tee is the perfect thickness that you don’t over heat.
My health is something that I am ready to make a priority, I am ready to make sure that I am taken care of so I can take care of other people, the people I love most. Our own physical and mental health is something that is so important, something that if we don’t take care of now will break us in the future. I know that I don’t take care of myself how I need to, I run myself so thin taking care of everyone else that I am forgetting myself, forgetting the person who expects herself to be top notch all the time for everyone else. I challenge you to take a week and to put yourself as a priority, make sure you are exercising regularly, taking care of your mental state, and loving yourself. I want to know the difference it makes in your life, the difference that you feel. Let’s band together and make sure that we are making ourselves the best version that we can be so we can take care of others to the best of our ability!
