3 Yes Toddler Activities
Recently I have been reflecting on being a mom. As parents I feel like the response we give our kids more than anything is “no” or “don’t”. We basically tell them all the time the things that they can’t do or we don’t want them to do, well at least I do. As we have had so many different life changes lately- new routines, neighborhoods, church groups, schools, etc. I have tried to have some new parenting styles, too. I have worked really hard on saying “yes” more and no less. I started having ‘yes’ toddler activities that King can always ask for and the answer will always be yes he can. Today I’m going to share with you 3 simple yes toddler activities that we have at our house.
The first toddler activity is those foam activities that are stickers on the back that they build or decorate. King is obsessed with them and so am I. They don’t make a mess, they are easy for him to do independently, and I love that it is an activity that let’s him be creative if he wants to be or follow directions to make something specific.
The second toddler activity is coloring, how simple is coloring? I buy him the color wonder books and markers so that way if he wants to color in them great, and if not it still shows up (just clear liquid) on regular paper and they don’t make a mess. He can always color and I love that sometimes it even gets his frustrations out as he vigorously colors on the page.
The last toddler activity is playing trucks and digging with marshmallows. The day that I thought of marshmallows for his tractors to dig I should have received a huge award! They don’t make a mess, no crumbs, they don’t mold or anything. I love that they are super easy to pick up when he is done playing. Playing trucks and digging is always his favorite thing to do and a go to for him that we can either play together or he can play independently.
I have been working really hard on having Yes meals on hand for myself too. Campbell’s Well Yes!® soup is the perfect yes answer for me to always go to for lunch when I am in a hurry, want something quick, or just don’t want to make something that day. I love that it is made with real nutritious ingredients which is a must for me. There are 2 portions in each can so Zach and I can share one and know that we both had A Soup in the Right Direction®. Well Yes! is a line of soups made with nutritious ingredients, like chicken meat with no antibiotics, sweet potatoes, kale, and quinoa so it is the perfect choice down the soup aisle.
