Creating Your Workout Routine
I have been chatting about working out a lot lately on here, a lot of that is so I can hold myself accountable. I know I need to make changes in my life to be more fit and active, it is just getting myself into a good routine that will set me up for success rather than failure if that makes sense.
I wanted to share with you some of the things that I have been doing to put myself in a good routine. Things that have been setting me up to workout daily, be more active, and to be successful at my goals. I am no expert by any means, but these are the things that have been working for me.
1 – Look at your schedule and put into your calendar the times that you are going to work out. Make it “do not touch” times where nothing is more important (obviously to a point) than working out so it doesn’t get scheduled over. Knowing when you are going to work out and having it planned will help you be successful to really workout every day.
2 – Know when your prime time to work out is. Are you a morning girl, afternoon, or are you a night owl who loves to work out before bed? I know that if I don’t do it first thing in the morning that it won’t get done even though I love to workout at night better. Knowing this helps me to get it out of the way right when I wake up.
3 – Find something to get your mind off of it while you are working out. I love to turn on some good music and to chew my favorite Orbit Gum. This keeps my mouth feeling fresh while I’m working out because when my mouth feels fresh it helps to push me to workout harder and longer, helps me to think about something other than that I might die, and who doesn’t love good music? Am I right?
4 – Set a water goal. I have found that when I am drinking enough water I make better decisions in what I am eating through out the day. I also know that when I chew gum throughout the day it helps to keep me from mindless snacking and on target with my macros goals. I also love to chew gum on the go. Gum is a flavorful treat with only 5-10 calories per serving. Sugar-free gum also provides oral care benefits. Isn’t that a win, win? Low calorie, oral health, plus who doesn’t love gum??
5 – Give yourself a little grace, it is okay to miss a day once a month, eat a treat, and to not be perfect. When it comes to working out, you won’t be perfect right away. Don’t let that stop you from trying. Don’t try to be perfect, just try to do your best.
You’ve got this mama! I would love to hear what is helping you to reach your workout goals and to be the bet healthy active mama that you can be.
