With the New Year, one of my biggest goals was to start eating healthier, snacking healthier, and living an all together healthier lifestyle. It can be so hard while you are on the go to make sure you are making the healthier choice when it comes to food. I have been working on this for awhile now and have found some tips and tricks to not only have healthier snakcs for yourself, but for your littles too and I am so excited to share what I have learned with you!
Generally we are in the car go-go-going all day long especially since living with my in-laws while we build our home. I am running to photoshoots, picking up the mail, checking on our house, meetings with companies, etc. all day and King is generally along for the ride. We are grabbing snacks wherever we pass by and snagging lunch when we have a free minute, anyone else feel me on the craziness?
Ever since I have been counting my macros I have been really trying to find healthier snacks full of protein and such to be able to grab while we are out and about. I have really worked hard on figuring out what is on our way, what is the best to fit into my macros, and keep both King and I eating healthier. So, let’s chat about what we have been doing that works best for us!
1 – Plan out your day. This may sound silly, but knowing where you are going and at what times is super important to finding healthier snacks when you are out and about. Then you can know what snacks/meals you will need to plan for while you are on the go.
2 – Make a plan of what/where you are going to snack and eat around where you are going. I always always plan the way and where I drive to around running into Starbucks. I love knowing that I can grab both King and I some Creminelli Fine Meats™ trays for us to snack on and we grab ourselves both a drink too while we are there. 3 – Plan out what you will get for your snacks and meals ahead of time. I try to pre-plan my meals and even pre-log them into my FitnessPal so I know if I am hitting my macros for the day or if I need to switch things up to make them work. I then already know what I am going to snag if we are out and about to eat and can make sure that I am picking the healthier choice instead of something that just sounds good at the moment.
4 – Give yourself some grace sometimes. Sometimes it is just one of those days when you need to grab something delicious because well, you are just glad that you made it through the day right? Give yourself some grace sometimes. As long as you are making the healthier choice most of the time, well then mama, in my eyes you’re doing a pretty dang good job.
