The Truth About Meal Prepping
We are going to get real here for a minute about meal prepping. Eating healthy is not a task for the weak, it takes a lot of thought and preparation. When I started meal prepping after the first time, I thought to myself NEVER AGAIN. Well, then the rest of the week came and I could just grab a container of my food out and I was set to eat with nothing to do but dump it on a plate. My snacks all ready in the fridge, breakfast made, everything was done.
Let’s talk about the truth behind meal prepping shall we?
MEAL PREPPING SUCKS. It is the truth. It is time consuming, it is messy, a lot of thought goes into it, and so much more. You are probably going to hate it the entire time that you are doing it UNTIL you go to get your food out of the fridge for the week and everything is there with no thought or anything.
We prep out of the Clean Simple Eats books. We have been eating out of them for over 18 months now and love them. They food is all super yummy and not “weird healthy food” if that makes sense. The meals can all be prepped ahead of time too which is super nice.

I have found some things that have helped me to make meal prepping a little bit easier and happier to do if we are being honest.
1 – Prep everything the same day. Yes it takes forever, but it is one big mess instead of a lot of little ones and then you are DONE for the week.
2 – Tell yourself over and over during the process it will be worth it. Is it worth it when you are doing it, probably not. However, when you get your food out of the fridge all ready when you are hungry it will all be worth it.
3 – Don’t feel like you have to prep everything. We prep our breakfast, lunch, and snacks but make dinner every night. This is our families happy medium that works for us. Find what works for you and stay in your lane. Don’t look around to everyone else and what they are doing. If it works for you, then that is all you need!
I hope this helps you to be able to prep your meals a little easier and happier for that matter. Remember it will all be worth it and will help you to stay on track.
